Coil Pack connector removal tips?

Hi All,

Just went to replace my plugs but gave up after a while as one of the coil pack connectors was proving to be a pain to remove.
Now, I managed to loosen 3 of the 4 on the driver's side using the push towards coil pack, press on the clip till it clicks, and pull down method.
But the 3rd's being a PITA.
I tried a few times with a screwdriver in the clip and the connector clicked but still wouldn't move.
Didn't want to go overboard with the screwdriver so as not to snap anything.

Any tips?

Breaking the connectors is not unusual as the plastic can become brittle due to heat and and age. The method I use, if they’re being difficult, is to push them in fully, then push the clip down and wiggle/pull at the same time. You might need to do it a few times before it works. If you push them in and hear a very faint click, you simply slide them out.

If you end up breaking them the part number is 4B0973724. There’s a lot on eBay.

And do yourself a favour; get a good quality VAG electrical connector tool. If you have a quality one, it takes seconds to remove the individual junior power connectors from the housing and swap them over.

I use a mini 90 degree pick on all these types of connector, makes them so much easier to remove

All done now and car starts with no warning lights etc.
Oil & filters done as well.
It's on blocks at the mo while my wheels are getting refurbed so I'll take it out for a spin towards the end of next week hopefully.
