Re: ££££
I don't want to share your luck. My problem is 3 cars (plus truck) and 1 driver. Oh, and nowhere to go. Not that I'm complaining.

Re: ££££
Last year pulled up at traffic lights with a loud whining noise. Pulled over and found a large oil puddle on the near side. Checked oil levels and power steering reservoir empty. Limped to local garage. Luckily just around the corner. Refilled oil and a slight drip. That lasted a week then empty again.
Back in garage power steering hoses knackered. Engine out. Not all the way out just removed enough to get at the hoses.
IIRC engine on a slant raised up at the front and tilted down at the back
Just to get at the hoses.
That was a garage bill that I don’t want again.

Re: ££££
I reckon the pump is the likely culprit rather than the rack mate. Our cars jump in and out of service position so dam often they should prestud the bumper on and off

Ha ha. Now isn’t that the truth. Lost count the number of times mine has been in the service position.Human Joist wrote: ↑Wed Sep 16, 2020 8:09 amI reckon the pump is the likely culprit rather than the rack mate. Re: ££££
I've actually never had it just in service position. I have always just taken it off since have always been in the middle of an engine out job - try to save the big jobs to do all in one go and just go large.
Hopefully service position will work here - I had the air con charged up yesterday, seems a shame to have to dump it all out again so quick.
Pump on order from autodoc - have got a TRW reman one on it's way (I choose TRW since they are OEM supplier for many parts (e.g. the master cylinder) without being excessively priced). https://www.autodoc.co.uk/trw/2199904
Without cashing in the old one it's coming up at £250 vs Audi £500. And if I send the old one back, it'll come in at £150ish net.

That’s a good price Matt. Hope you get it sorted soon and then have many miles of happy motoring.
Re: ££££
Given that it's an RS, I'll settle for "some" more miles of happy motoring.
There's actually almost nothing I haven't done on the car now - if it's on the "yeah, that happens" list, I think I have almost everything covered.

Re: ££££
Just had a call from the garage. My slight oil leak is from the gearbox. New sump pan and gasket plus oil change and filter.
Cost just under £1K
Like you Matt . I think I have just about changed everything

Not too sure. I will ask them to keep the old one. If needed I can get it skimmed on a CNC milling machine.
You are very welcome to it.
All original parts estimated at two days. So if I am lucky. I will get the car back on Friday.
Also Audi phoned me to let me know that the new windscreen water deflector has arrived.
Been a very expensive last two weeks.

Definitely not rusted through. Possibly pitted. But I really don’t know as I haven’t seen it.
Wasn’t a bad leak but enough to piss me off. I am definitely OCD where the RS6 is concerned.

Autodoc ..... they are shocking with delivery and have been criticised before. Takes ages.
I think putting mine in to service position so many times recently is what caused the bodge oil cooler repair to fail last week

Yeah, coming in from germany does mean the bits take longer, but I appreciate being able to choose the exact manufacturer of the part I'm buying.
ECP don't have any stock, so there aren't a huge number of choices. I'm OK with the wait, and as long as I get the TRW part I ordered, I'll be happy.

Spoke to garage. They are saving the old one for me. Will have a good look at it when I get it. Hopefully on Friday.
