RNSE - AMI retrofit

Post by Jon_J » Sat Sep 12, 2020 10:38 am

I’ve don’t this a few times and keep being asked how, so I put a video together.

It takes you through the parts needed, how to install, how to configure VCDS and then a functionality demo.

Hope it’s useful.

Hi John

Just watched the video and it’s great for doing a self installation.

Question & request. Would it be possible to list all the parts required and where to get them from?

The software on the laptop, can that be downloaded to any laptop and what cable would you need to connect to the car?

And last one you fancy doing this for me

Sure

RNSE- eBay
AMI - eBay
Loom - Kufatec

Buy an original Vagcom. You can download VCDS for free. The license is managed my the cable.

You get all the parts and I’ll happily fit it.

Is it much more work to fit the rear camera?
2007 B7 RS4 Saloon, Phantom Black, Forge Oil Cooler Kit, custom home made air feed, H&R Coilovers, H&R anti roll bars, 10mm H&R Spacers, Milltek decat downpipes, Milltek Non Res Valved Exhaust, Reyland Motorsports front & rear discs with Hel braided Hoses, full underbody overhauled inc powdercoated subframes and arms, 034 solid subframe bushes and every joint, arm or bush replaced.

Yeah, reverse camera is a different kettle of fish. I took a load of photos when I installed it so I’ll try and do a write up on it.

Hi - does anyone know of a new SatNav/MMI system that can replace the RNSE but retain the drivers display, retains use of the BOSE and the integrated microphone? Not keen to lose those but keen to move the system forward.

Many thanks
