Gearbox (again)

Post by G30001 » Wed Oct 23, 2019 9:16 pm

I an getting worried about my box as although smooth in most ways (first non manual so I think it is anyway) what worries me is when coming to a halt just after it stops there is a distinct jolt as it drops into 1st.

I know this is the first signs of a problem but I get nothing on scans with VCDS, is there any way I can get it officially detected?

Car had a gold warranty so just need it diagnosed and I can push to get it done!

Thanks

Take it to Audi and they can check the gearbox oil for glycol. The gearbox radiator fails and leaks coolant into the oil, contaminates the clutches and hence the jerky feel between 2 and 1. It's a common fault...

Steps to take are to get the gearbox oil changed by Audi and then get the DSG recalibrated

If it still jerks (as my old S4 did) it is a mechatronics fault and a very expensive part that I hope your warranty will cover. My repair was £5k

Chris Harris has the same fault, well documented, in his S4

Thanks both.

I had the gearbox oil changed and supposedly recalibrate as soon as I bought it as a preventative measure.

Oil change in 2k so will get them to check for glycol in the oil then and hope for the best.

Warranty was set up to £10k per claim for that exact reason.
