An upgrade to the stage2 C6 RS6

Post by Toady1 » Wed Oct 02, 2019 11:07 am

So what would you go onto next from owning a stage2 RS6? I'm toying with the idea. Ideally I'd need to go for the C7, as it will fit my family when we want to take my car opposed to the family POS on holidays etc. I like heading to the mountains for snow boarding in the winter, and hauling my bike too for mountain biking.

But this upgrade will require some finance, and with that in mind it opens up other options that I could spend the money on, but they aren't so family friendly.

I've also looked at R8's, GTR's, and last night even swayed towards the Aston Martin N420!

I've also looked at the B8 RS4 which means less finance, and potentially not much in the lines of an upgrade, and potentially won't fit the family in either.

What are people's experiences of any of the above on here?

50 views and no comments says to me that a Stage 2 C6, although not the best looking car, tis hard to best unless you go C7. 😁

Have I just said what we all knew already 😭😭😭😂😂😂

I actually prefer the looks of the C6, prefer the engine size and layout too, it's also much more understated aside from the flared arches

I had a TDI badge on mine and it fooled a few car people never mind non car people until it was turned on

I'd keep the C6 and spend the additional funds on turbo gearbox and supporting upgrades. But I'm mental lol

C7 is the obvious answer, i’ve got a C6 and love the looks of the C7. But im not sure i’d part with the C6 for one. The engine is increasingly looking fragile as it ages and its got a certain image around the bradford area which im close too. Theres also less than 300 C6’s in the UK compared to 1000’s of C7’s so its not exclusive like the previous RS cars. Its definitely a hard car to replace as it has its flaws dynamically which can frustrate but theres nothing like it.

Well I've just sold my C6 at the weekend. I'm gutted if I'm honest. I've found a couple of nice C7's which I'm chatting to the dealers about. Both on auto trader. One is a black one from Crewe Audi, the other a grey one which I prefer the look of. Both 2015 models with @60k miles and around £40k.

So the V8 engines have problems then?

I agree the C6 is more understated than the C7 and so doesn't look as good. But it is also so much more exclusive.

I think it's a mesh oil strainer that becomes blocked.

I think they have problems with sticking piston rings as well, but the turbo oil strainer seems to be the big one. However, there are lots of cars that have that very same problem, so it's not an Audi exclusive. It does make the C6 look like a good bet though.

Have said that, I did get to go in an RS6 C7 recently, and I was very impressed. I can see why people like them.

Try something new

Alfa Giulia qf would be my choice, or a G63 :smile_smoking:

If a C63 fit the kids then I'd try one of them, don't think a G is my cup of tea! Love the Alfa, though heard they're terrible for reliability. Was also considering an R8, GTR, or AM N420. But neither of them will fit the kids so they're already on a losing streak.

Let the kids get the bus / go with mum... AM N420 for me. I do like the sound of the Alfa QF though if you really need the back seats... or a Porka.
