Hi
I am a very proud owner of a 2006 RS4
I am just coming up to the end of the first years ownership, I’ve covered 5k of the total 55k on the car with experiencing very few issues and has been a joy to own.
I bought the car with no service history whatsoever, a gamble yes, but purchased for a fab price. I will be asking a local specialist to carry out the service work,
So the question to you guys, is along with the major service, is there anything else I should be asking the garage to do? 13 years old and 55k I was thinking gearbox and diff oil change ?
Thanks
First service, what to do???

First service, what to do???
If you purchased this vehicle 1 year ago with no documented maintenance history I’m also gathering by your question that you didn’t perform a complete flush of all fluids?MrRSB7 wrote:Hi

If this is accurate, I’d have everything changed independent of the fact that some of the oils are not part of the maintenance program. You just never know what the previous owner might have topped some things up with.
For example when I purchased mine ~2 years ago with ~65k and with most of the scheduled services on its history I recall immediately having the following items changed/flushed:
- 2 oil changes ~500 miles apart
- Coolant system (recently I also changed the expansion tank as it was showing signs of age - yellowing)
- Steering Oil Flush
- Gearbox Flush
- Rear Differential Flush
I had my brake system flushed earlier this year once I had my front disks and pads upgraded, I would have this flush also included as part of this service.
Some folks that I know have recommended me to get a DRC flush so if you are still on the original system something to think about (some will say its not needed). I haven’t had this done as I bought a set of coilovers that I will be installing once my system starts to fail.
Additionally have you every had a carbon clean (CC) performed on your vehicle? If not I would definately include this too together with getting your fuel filter changed, the difference in performance with that mileage and assuming it’s never been done will be well worth it.
Fuel Injector clean? Might be worth getting this done if you decide to have the car CC’d as ideally this clean should be performed with the Intake Manifold off. Injector service should include seals but you should purchase new clips and a few of us have sourced these through ebay.
Good luck with the service, I know most of what I’ve shared is not cheap but given that you have a relatively low mileage car and no history of issues, I’d put the $$/€€/££ in for this service and treat it like a major first time one that will reset the maintenance clock from here on

Re: First service, what to do???
Thanks
The dealer did a minor service before i took it away.
I’ve had dyno run / health check at MRC Tuning recently , they suggested it was pulling 290hp on the road, and suggested I spend £1800 on carbon clean and de flap, that’s next on the list, I am not in a rush as the car seems fine to me, not sure if they were pulling my leg or not.
Thanks for the fluids update , I’ll ask the garage to change them all.
The suspension has been replaced with bilstein coil overs

Re: First service, what to do???
Well prices in the UK are quite steep and by what I read on the Forums and Facebook MRC is no exception, very good reviews though and I assume that if they are deflapping this will also include a tune.MrRSB7 wrote:Thanks

For context one of our fellow owners here in the US recently had his car dynoed after a cleanup together with tune and AMD 3inch downpipe and was putting ~365 hp to the wheels.
290whp on a stock car is on the low end as I recall most stock reads after clean are around ~320 whp (or slightly higher), definately a carbon clean as they have advised is in order, the difference before/after is really noticeable

Yeah I would definitely recommend a carbon clean.MrRSB7 wrote: ↑Sun Sep 22, 2019 5:21 pmThanks
