decision time

Post by Tweaky » Wed Jun 26, 2019 11:38 am

Ok it is approaching time to change my current B8 RS4 for something else. I am really torn between a 2018 RS4 or an RS6 performance. I know the RS4 is newer tech, lighter and more nimble but the RS6 PE is seriously quick. Which one do you think will have better residual value at the end of 4 years assuming they both have the same purchase price of circa £62000? I know this is not the be all and end all but it is quite a big factor in my decision making.

Thanks in advance for any advice :)

If the RS6 PE doesn't have the annoying (and downright dangerous) Audi Pre-Sense Pedestrian feature then it would be a no-brainer for me.

I have had facelift C7 RS6 and B9 RS4 - 35k in former, and 15k in latter - and, as a daily, RS4 every time. Both have their plus points but 6 feels old after the 4, and 4 much better handling. And both rapid. 6 sounds good though. No idea re values.

Thanks for the replies chaps. My 4 has the pre-sence feature and i just turn it off as it scares the sh*t out of me everytime it cuts in.

I'm on that same page:( City driving - a bicycle, pedestrian etc. that I have ample time to see & react to BUT - the system is over sensitive even in weakest setting I think. Too many 'no trouble' brake activations.

yes i gave me a right scare when it came on in town no one near me just a keep right cone
so that got switched off soon i found it on the menu but it reverts back when the ignition is cycled
so i will have to set it to its lowest setting as above until some one find the coding to disable it completely

Thats interesting, i just have mine turned off in the MMI and it stays off. It chimes occasionally when i start the car to say brake assist is turned off but thats it.

do you have to have the brake assist option in order to have the active cruise control on the B9 or does the B9 get active cruise as standard? Its something i use quite a bit in my B8
