Milltek Exhaust - Non-Res Cat

Post by RS3SaloonBoi » Wed Jun 12, 2019 8:38 pm

Hey guys,

I've picked up my new RS3 Saloon (2019) last week. I previously had a C7 RS6 which to be honest for my use was like having a F1 car doing the school drops so I decided to down size. I do of course miss the craziness, pops and bangs of the RS6 which the RS3 is lacking due to the WLTP filter EU emissions blah!

I had a non-res milltek on the RS6 so want some of the character back on my RS3.

Anyone here has a milltek fitted - does it sound tinny / raspy? I know I wont get the deep V8 thunder but I don't want the car to sound like a cat with a firework up its back side!

I have seen some videos on YouTube but most cars have had other mods done like the down pipes and decat. So cant get a true sound of the milltek cat no-res

Thanks all

Not sure you will hear much difference unless you bin the GPFs which will prob need mapped out if they have DP sensors across them

RS3 Saloon
RS7 FL best car I've owned. No faith in turbo oil screen (turbos failing) or sticking oil scraper ring causing missfires.
F10 M5 LCI still no rear grip lol
S7 black Edition Too big and heavy
S3 8V FL DSG 310ps, road noise is a joke
RS3 8P Rubbish
C7 RS6 Fantastic car but missed playing
GTR R35 800bhp, too extreme, crazy fast though
911 Turbo Remapped. Hated it
F10 M5, awesome but no rear grip
RS6 V10 700BHP crazy

I spoke to Milltek directly. The OPF/GPF will remain undisturbed. With a cat back replacement is straight forward and there will be a noise difference.
You are right PaulM about the remap if the GPF is altered in anyway including the downpipe replacement.

I am going ahead with the non-res cat back. Will update here once installed.

I’m sure you will now have the Milltek but the GPF filter does cut out a massive amount of sound and as said very difficult to map out. I was lucky as my 2016 RS3 doesn’t have one and the sports exhaust is one of the best Audi have produced even better than all three of my previous RS6 cars

I put a milltek sports cat on with a mrc remap i think its
just the right amount of noise in dynamic mode.

Short Steve was your RS3 the 2019 with the GPF hence why you only changed the downpipe? Any sound clips?

With this bloody filter it makes things really difficult to gain sound. You may well get a bit with a cat back but it’s the filter that reduces all the sound so for now a large cost for very minimal gains. If Audi hadn’t fooked up on the emissions scandal all would be good 😂😂😂😂
