Aftermarket Injectors
Aftermarket Injectors
Hi all,
Looks like I may need my injectors replaced in the nearish future. Getting slight misfires on startup and what looks like poor fuel economy. My mechanic confirmed my injectors were looking suspect after some tests during servicing yesterday.
Gen Audi ones are crazy expensive. Anyone had any experience with aftermarket? Looks like Hitachi made the OEM ones, has anyone used these and what we're your experiences? Hitachi is a high quality, solid brand typically.

Re: Aftermarket Injectors
I'm looking to get mine checked and if necessary swap when I do a carbon clean. These worked out pretty good value even after a rough import costs calculation (assuming you're in the U.K)

Re: Aftermarket Injectors
Why don't you have them tested for flow and spread against standard, and get the dodgy ones or all of them reconditioned, there's lots of companies out there.
RS4 B7, Mugello Blue, K&W V3 & HR ARBs, set up by Centre Gravity, Milltek Valved Non Res & cat bypass pipes, BMC air filter, braided hoses, DOT 5.1, Terraclean, MRC Full Carbon Clean, MRC remap 448PS 477NM, 20" S7 alloys with 4mm spacers & Hawke spigots 66.6 > 57.1, AP Racing front discs. Sold Sept 2019. Now rocking an F80 M3
Re: Aftermarket Injectors
Cov I think MRC have an injector testing rig now?
Re: Aftermarket Injectors
I’m pretty sure the op is in Australia, I think MRC might be a bit of a treck.
Cheers

Re: Aftermarket Injectors
Yeah I'm in Australia. There's only one place here who can test these injectors.
I understand when you remove/replace injectors, Audi recommends replacing the fitting kit as well, which is $50/injector or so. If I'm going to do that I'm thinking of just paying the replacement cost of new injectors as well to get it over with.

Re: Aftermarket Injectors
Check either Rockauto or FCP in the US for the OE Hitachi injectors, quite a few of us have bought and are running these with no issues, the clips buy them off ebay, they go for about 5usd vs the 50 that the dealer wants for eachAlexB7RS4 wrote:Hi all,

Re: Aftermarket Injectors
Alex,
Shame I didn’t know earlier you needed these, I’ve just got back to the US after 2 weeks in Brisvegas and Sydney and I could’ve brought them over for you.
As AA mentioned and as you’ve probably seen on Audizine, there’s been quite an involved and lengthy discussion about using Hitachi branded fuel injectors, rather than the Audi branded ones. If you get the straight Hitachi ones, the general consensus seems to be all you’ll miss are the Audi markings and save yourself quite a fair bit in $$$.
You’ve probably already seen it but in case you haven’t, search for the “fuel injector maintenance” thread.

Re: Aftermarket Injectors
Haven't seen that one, thanks Kenny.
Also appreciate the mention of bringing some over for me, but it's all good. I travel to the US about 8 times a year for work so I can pick some up next time.

Re: Aftermarket Injectors
Post them to mrc for testing/cleaning/recovering.
Re: Aftermarket Injectors
Alright just about to pull the trigger on this after reading of a couple RS4 Engines that have gone due to faulty injectors.
Is the general consensus that the eBay install kits are fine? I don't mind paying the extra $200USD or so if needed to use genuine ones but if I don't have to, I won't. Just want to make sure the seals aren't shitty on the cheaper ones. Though my experience working for GM tells me that the kits are way overpriced and $5 should be about right.

Re: Aftermarket Injectors
Also thinking of doing R8 injection coils at the same time for peace of mind.
