EPC / ESP light

Post by MrRSB7 » Sat Feb 02, 2019 10:44 am

After owning my 2006 RS4 with 50k on it for 6 months , not a hint of a problem, car is a dream and definitely a keeper.

Started her up this morning and found the EPC/ESP Lights on, drives perfectly , no noises etc?

Any suggestions on what this could be?

Many thanks

I once had this light show my fault was steering angle sensor

But it could be one of many sensors related to the stability program of the car

Needs scanning

No most mechanics will have the correct diagnostic tools

Possibly a member your way could help ?

I got this also this week, did you run a diagnostic tool to see what code you have? Surprised it drives perfectly, my power got limited to 3k revs, in the end it came up after driving through heavy rain, after a while it went away, have to check a few things around the ECU to see what might have got wet. For reference the codes that I got were 2128 and 2138...

Ok, worth investing in a cheap one, I bought a 20$ one at a local autostore. Also ODB11 is a good tool to have if you have an android phone

This sounds like a throttle body problem. I had exactly the same issue. The car drives perfectly, then it goes into limp mode. You switch the car off and its ok for a while then the issue repeats. My car had done about 70k at the time. A new throttle body is about £1300 fitted Audi.
RS4 B7, Mugello Blue, K&W V3 & HR ARBs, set up by Centre Gravity, Milltek Valved Non Res & cat bypass pipes, BMC air filter, braided hoses, DOT 5.1, Terraclean, MRC Full Carbon Clean, MRC remap 448PS 477NM, 20" S7 alloys with 4mm spacers & Hawke spigots 66.6 > 57.1, AP Racing front discs. Sold Sept 2019. Now rocking an F80 M3

Crazy expensive when its the same throtthe body as the Corvette C6 Z06, you can buy those too off Rockauto for half or less than what the audi stamped (exact part number) one costs...
