Switched live piggy back fuse

Post by GaryA » Fri Jan 18, 2019 7:57 pm

Good evening. To avoid poking about in the fuse panel, any of you good folk know which fuse can be used as a switched live for my blackvue using one of those piggy back fuse connectors ?
Cheers
Gary

I used the one for the footwell lights for my headunit.

Can you not use the cigarette lighter socket wire?
2007 B7 RS4 Saloon, Phantom Black, Forge Oil Cooler Kit, custom home made air feed, H&R Coilovers, H&R anti roll bars, 10mm H&R Spacers, Milltek decat downpipes, Milltek Non Res Valved Exhaust, Reyland Motorsports front & rear discs with Hel braided Hoses, full underbody overhauled inc powdercoated subframes and arms, 034 solid subframe bushes and every joint, arm or bush replaced.

Cheers for replies
Struggling with concept of using footwell wiring.
Cigarette lighter, using this as it's constant 12v
I'm using the blackvue power pro to monitor battery level which requires another feed when the ignition is on.
Any ideas for an old school switched live ?

I used the headlight washers fuse for mine.
Cant remember what number it is but its towards the bottom. Should be able to tell from the fuse panel cover.

Mike

EDIT - it was the washerpumps fuse - no. 37

I fed mine off the back of the headlight switch (acc) and the busbar above the pedals for permanent live - I use a power-magic so it turns off after a couple of hours in parking mode. There is a nice bolt by the fuse panel for earth connection too.

I tapped into one of the wires in the steering column and got lucky first time (they're all red so impossible to know which is which). The one I picked stays on after you turn the ignition off until the keys are removed so its perfect if you want the radio on whilst parked.

Cheers for all the feedback and suggestions. I hope to have another look at this later today or tomorrow.
I'd rather piggy back off fuses than cut into the looms. Hopefully the headlight washer for switched live and front lighter for permanent will suffice the needs of the power magic pro.
Cheers again

There are plenty of fuses there that will work for you. I couldn't get the fuse panel out far enough to connect to the back of it but you could use an "add a circuit" although that means it would hang out of the front which I didn't like the idea of.

Finally got around to sorting this out. Managed to neatly use cigarette lighter and the washer pump fuses. Cheers for advice ;-)
