Auf wiedersehen

Post by KernowPete » Thu Dec 20, 2018 8:29 pm

Well, after 8 years and 63,000 miles, my beloved B7 has gone off to pastures new. Right up until the end I loved every second in that car and I rather suspect it might be the best car I'll ever own. But I just felt it was a ticking financial timebomb and time for a change.

I've replaced it with something from 2013, also German, also with a V8, also with '414bhp', but with a badge containing two characters instead of three...I know, I know, I'm dead to you etc etc, but I just had to know, if you know what I mean........

Anyway, I haven't been a prolific poster on here but have enjoyed the banter and benefited from the RS246 hive mind more than once. I'll keep my account active, you never know I might be back at some point. In the meantime, merry Christmas one and all!

How are you liking the M3? I must say I have been tempted to the dark side from time to time. I miss the dynamics of a well balanced RWD - the RS4 is incredible for what it is, but it’s not super playful.

E92 for the summer, B7 for the winter would be perfect.

Alex, have you done any chassis / suspension mods to make it a bit more dynamic and playful?

Hi Alex
Not done enough miles in it yet to make a vaild comparison. Intitial impressions though are that it's bloody quick, makes a nice noise (although totally different tone to the B7) and feels very special. Mines a 2013 car with the DCT transmission so that will take some getting used to. Winter in Cornwall probably not the best time to be hooning a 400hp real wheel drive car though.

Yep KW V3s, H&R ARBs. It’s much more balanced than stock but still well behaved. Only so much you can do with a 1600kg awd car with the engine mounted 3’ in front of the headlights.

Agreed, I have the same mods. Default mode = sport button and ESP full off. :thumb:
