Standard ride height
Standard ride height
I have my car up on axle stands and now need to change the suspension which was originally unplanned, can anyone help with some dimensions from the arches to the top of a 19” rim or center of the wheel ideally ss+? Im fitting coilovers so i know it will still be lower on the front
But would like to pre torque the control arms. Thanks

Re: Standard ride height
Anyone ever measures the ride height of a car on h&r springs? Want to be at a similar height with mine, maybe 10mm lower

Re: Standard ride height
H&R are 20 /25 mm, so 10 mm more than that will be the highest setting for the coil over kit . Coil over units normally do 30 to 50 mm . 50 is too low on the RS4 in my opinion . the body of the shock in a coil over kit is often shorter than a standard shock . thus is good for comfort ,but risky for tyres hitting the fenders depending on the wheel and tyres fitted ( as well as spacers )
Re: Standard ride height
I was hoping someone had dimensions from the arch to rim or center of wheel etc so i could tighten the control arms to where i want the car to sit around -30mm on the front which is the minimum on the kit and around its standard height (SS+) at the rear but maybe 5mm lower, i have the suspension fitted without scocks so i could jack the hubs up, totque the upper control arms and then fit the coilovers after and then replicate my chosen height, i could really do without having to put it onto its wheels and on the floor.

Re: Standard ride height
I put a set of SS+ springs on mine. If it’s useful I could take measurements for you?
Re: Standard ride height
If you wouldnt mind that would be great, could i be cheeky and ask for the front too haha

Re: Standard ride height
Im going to have to get the big camera out and start a progress thread, i only took it off the road to fit my new discs and paint the calipers and its starting to get out of hand.

Here’s some pics with a tape measure (top is front, bottom is back):
Re: Standard ride height
Front might have been sitting a touch high. I have pebble drive and it may have dug in a bit at the back lifting the front.
Re: Standard ride height
Thanks for that! Yeah the front does look a bit high doesn’t it, i have set mine at 75mm from arch to rim which doesn’t look too bad, wish id measured it before i took it off the road.

Re: Standard ride height
Might be a bit late but if it helps I'm on H&R springs with DRC
Rim to arch on Front is 75mm with 60/65mm on Rears
Personally I'd normally prefer to see it level but happy with the way it sits on the springs

Re: Standard ride height
Thanks thats great, i didnt want mine much lower than h&r springs would give but i decided to junk the drc as the lines weren’t great and i had a broken spring and i got a decent deal on h&r coulovers.
