So far mine has only been driven with E5 (98 oct.) but Audi also allows the use of E10 (95 oct. with 10% ethanol)
That is of course a lot cheaper over here in Belgium.
What do you guys put in the tank?
Are there any downsides to the E10? Maybe a tiny powerloss?
Or is it in the end on long term better to keep it on E5?
Which type of fuel do you use, E5 or E10?
Which type of fuel do you use, E5 or E10?
All black B9 RS4
Re: Which type of fuel do you use, E5 or E10?
I'm yet to pick my RS4 , however the previous RSQ3 had the same Sticker in the fuel filler flap - 98 octane with 95 minimum.
I've run the current car on both and it appears to make zero difference in either real world performance or fuel economy. The TFSI engines have knock-sensors for each cylinder and adjust accordingly. I'm told by an Audi engineer that the engines are designed to cope with poorer grades of fuels as they can't prevent what get's tipped into the tank...

I use 98 if available and 95 if not. There is no discernible difference.

Thanks for sharing that article Terminator_x.
The fuel marketing thing is a bit naughty really - if one visits a fuel tanker depot you don't see those storage tanks with 'BP Ultimate' or Shell 'Super wotsit' on the sides, the same depots supply the supermarkets filled from the same tanks as the premier brands. So whilst one will hopefully get 95 or 98 RON fuel the baseline is a bit vague and impossible to tell on the filling station forecourt.
