As annoying as it is, i think i got caught on the M62 on Sunday 30th Sept.

Stupid on my part as i saw the new cameras on the side of the gantry being a Smart Motorway & the gantry was set at 50mph, but the next one was set as 60mph & i usually set my ACC at 5mph above the gantry limit as this has always been well within tolerance, however some di1cksplat caught my attention briefly & i started to accelerate up to 65mph for the next gantry, but clearly hadn't let the 50mph zone & looking back through my rear view mirror i thought to myself how annoying it would be if the camera flashed, only to be greeted by the flash :bash:

Had a clean license for over 20yrs so am furious with myself if i do receive an NiP in the next few days.

Got Camera POI's on my Nav & Waze via CarPlay, so i've no excuse other than the brief distraction & a touch of impatience :boots:

Ironically it's become more dangerous checking your speed every few seconds, avoiding motorway middle lane hoggers, looking out for cameras all over the show and avoiding wheel buckling potholes... no fun driving in this country anymore.

Totally agree. On stretches of motorway with average speed cameras I seem to need to spend more time looking in my rear view mirror to avoid being under taken and overtaken at the same time trying to move across to the left lane. Totally rediculous.

I got stopped at the weekend, 93 in a 70, I was accelerating when I seen them in a lay-by up ahead.

I was slowed down and indicating to pull in at the next lay-by before they’d caught up, both commented on how good the car sounded and went before I looked up and realised it was one of my neighbours that was driving

They were sound, I admitted I was going a bit more than I should have been, and they overlooked no plate on the front and tinted plate on the back

3 points, £100 fine.

The future of Smart motowways is 5G Fibre networks , this will make speeding cars highly profitable and basically end motoway speeding. I'll happily take the back roads and buckled wheels

LOL, that made me chuckle :bigblink:

Tend to have been very careful on the roads & only get sucked into the very occasional 'race'. Rest of the time i save my severe hoonage for the track or very early on a Sunday morning in the Lake District/Yorkshire Dales.

That said, if i did fall foul of this feckin Haldecs 3 camera on the side of a gantry, then i'm really gonna have to raise my game & be more aware when i'm on routes rarely driven.

Really can't see what's so fcuking smart about these Smart Motorways springing up everywhere

I'm game for one of these, funnily enough!!, but which one? Lots of mention of "EU". is it a detector per se for mobile vans, or effectively a database of cameras, given the Haldecs are fixed and on permanently

Had a laser jammer back in 99 in an M3, but given the recent hi vis cases, don't fancy being done for perverting the course of justice, especially as I have no "electric garage door" - plus it wouldn't have saved me the other week...

I have a Road Angel Pure, and find it very effective.

I may, or may not, have other devices, and I do have an electric Garage door (and a very tight fit in my garage.

To be honest, the main risk IMHO are the unmarked cars - harder to spot than ever, though the double door mirrors, and devices on dash, and across rear window can usually be spotted. It's when they come from behind that they are harder to spot.

Anyone on here using Target Blu Eye??

I wonder if he would get off the 98 in a 70 :bigblink:

Much better choice of ride than a Bentayga!

No offer of a speed awareness course then? Only 19 mph over if you factor in the 10% + 2 advisory...
Fine is a bit of a stinger too

Apparently I was too far over the limit to warrant being offered a speed awareness course.........
