No real update yet. Grizz says he has all the bits ready to go and the engine pull starts next week (heard that before :D) with a plan to have it done by Xmas but in the new years I'm off to Saudi for 2 years+ in a new job so I'm not sure what I'll be doing once I get it back.

Thank you for such a kind offer! :D

It may end up with my 65yo Dad whose just upgraded from a Micra to a new A4 Avant so he should be OK with the power :biggrin3:

I really have no clue yet as both my car due back date and my work start date are both very 'flexible' (visas, security etc) and I'd want to enjoy the car before leaving and leaving it to my dad is a pain for him but I keep the car or lastly selling it, which would be a massive pain due to distance etc so I'd be restricted to 2 week attempts while I'm back in the on leave, which is another pain.

I'm back in Stoke from mid Nov so I can keep a closer eye on the rebuild too, just hope everything goes smoothly.

:D :D :D :D IT'S BAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAACCCCCCKKKKKK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :D :D :D :D

Picked it up earlier today and, after a few nervous moments trying to remember how my car actually worked (it's been 19 Months since I last drove it) and making sure it was all taxed, had AA cover etc I finally took it out for a quick 50 mile spin. However with the Methanol/Water mix being 19 months old and having none at Unit20 I took it easy until I could get back home and replace the old meth mix with new but even at 1/2 throttle it's still surprisingly quick.

So next up is a trip back to Unit20 for a "post 500 mile" check next week just to make sure everything is spot on after such a massive rebuild, plus it'll be back at Unit20 in the Autumn (while I'm back in Saudi) to finish off the suspension refresh as the metal DRC pipework is corroded to buggery and needs replacing yet there's none available at the moment. Currently the struts are still unchanged until the pipes are ready.

At some point I also need to book a trip to MRC for a map tweak for more torque but I'll ask them to look at the top end as there was evidence of the cylinders running just too hot even with Water injection etc after 10k miles of 900+hp so I'll get the top end dropped a little (around 870-880ish) just to be safe.

Supposed to be as I asked for that during the build but found OEM ones during the minor strip I did. Now it's definitely got cooler ones as I bought them myself.

Well one good thing about ME jobs is they tend to pay well so you can afford whatever work needs doing-even if you have to spend most of the year in a hot shithole. Been there done that many times.
