New brakes needed

Post by pez81 » Fri May 04, 2018 4:11 pm

Just been quoted £1500 for all new brakes and pads front and rear. This is for OEM.

Any other suggestions?

What size are our fronts then?

PS £1500 all round sounds reasonable, I was quoted more than twice that (by Audi)!

From an email I received last September :

My Parts Manger has looked into the brakes. He has spoken to various suppliers. There is no upgraded as such as your vehicle has a very good braking system that is on there from standard. The only other route would be to go ceramic which is an option that Audi offer from factory. This would reduce the build of brake dust. To give you an idea of costs, the parts only would be £16,621. This is the cost for the front pads, front brake discs, front callipers, rear brake pads, rear brake discs and rear callipers. Of course there would be a cost of fitting of the ceramic brakes which would be on top. He did look into EBC however there is not an option for your make and model. One downfall of the ceramic option is that the pads have been know they work on a higher brake temperature so unless you are driving the vehicle quite hard can lack in feel and the brake pads can pitt the brake discs which can in turn cause damage to the paint work.

I've found some more front disc options, but really need to know the size of the discs fitted to our car - mine is a C7.5 (facelift) and I see options for 345mm 356mm and between 30 and 34 mm thick. Could someone confirm the OEM part number for the front discs (is it 4H0615601F)?
