B7 RS4

Post by RS4Chris77 » Sat Feb 10, 2018 10:05 pm

Hi all. First post on here. I’ve not yet purchased a car. This is where I need your advice. I’ve got £17k to £19k to spend. I’ve watched YouTube videos for reviews but they’re mainly about their own cars. For my budget, what am I really expected to get? What do I need to check and look out for when viewing? Does anyone know what the standard spec is on this car and a list of options as I can’t find anything online. I live in Nottingham area and cars are few and far between. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks everyone.

I’d expect a well sorted example for that kind of money, will be higher mileage 70-80k maybe more. Some top forum cars have sold recently here for them figures. Prices are all over the place lately and the crap ones let the good ones down.

Buy Mikes car if it’s still for sale that is one of the best forum cars available atm. It is proper sorted.

Look for drc leaks/misting
Oil cooler lines
Seat bolsters inflate
Exhaust flaps
Kick at 5500 rpm (will need de coking if there’s nothing there)
Sticky Clutch
Service history

There’s a lot more but just look at mikes car.

Hi. Thanks for that. Yeah I’ve seen that one. It does look nice although I did really want something totally stock. I’ve an A45 AMG atm so need a trade sale like mikes. What do you think of the Bose system? I’ve heard mixed reports. It’s on my tick box list but if it’s not that good, then I can dismiss it. Also, I want Bluetooth. Is it correct that you can only get a Bluetooth system with cars that have the phone cradle? Thanks mate.

My B7 had Bose and I thought it produced a good quality sound - depending on the input of course. CD changer was very good, SD card MP3's varied depending on how the file had been saved to the card. Overall it was decent IMO.

The B&O system in my B8 is better, but bear in mind it is several years newer.

The BT system does not depend on the phone cradle, that bit was the option as I understand it. My car did not have the cradle but had the bluetooth module.

Good luck with your search.

I didn’t like the sound from the BOSE at all. I’ve also had a B8 with B&O, similar to Silverfox, which sounds much better. What sounds better still is the aftermarket system I have in the B7; JL XD500/3 amp, 10” JL TW1 sub in a cubby hole enclosure (doesn’t eat up boot space), and focal components.

Bose on the tick list? It's the standard and only option on the B7 as fast as I recall. It came as standard and there was nothing better to pick. RNS-E was optional though.

Mike has most the bits to put it back to standard. The bose system is sound mate, I’m looking to do a JL install soon so make it better. Bose is absolutely sound though and others can vouch. And Bluetooth retrofit has nothing to do with phone cradle that’s a load of crap. Mines had Bluetooth installed and you just switch to the cd changer to use it.

Hi mate. I got one finally. It’s on trader currently at Sytner Select at Wakefield. A sprint blue one. I pick it up Friday!! It’s got Bluetooth so I’m sorted there. The system is Audi Navigation Plus. A bit of a headache question but how can I stream music? Is there an adapter I can buy? Cheers,

Just connect to it on your phone and select phone on the unit. Mine is done in a different way I have to select the cd changer and connect the phone
