DRC ride quality
DRC ride quality
Anyone able to report on ride quality on normal suspension? All the cars reviewed seem to have DRC.
Re: DRC ride quality
I see (from your order) you have concluded that the car needs DRC.

Re: DRC ride quality
Yes. That is the feedback I have had from my dealer and the all the reviews I have read (albeit only a few - inc Autocar - have tried both specs).

Re: DRC ride quality
There's a couple of journo reviews on the cars without DRC, and both say it's pretty jarring.
Having read them, I soon added DRC onto my spec as I drive mat current B8 everywhere in Comfort mode

Re: DRC ride quality
Half a day with a car with standard suspension and thought it spot on. Better ride than my RS4 in comfort, 1000% better than the unusable dynamic

Re: DRC ride quality
Silas from here had one to try yesterday and said the standard suspension was somewhere near dynamic on the b8, but quite as tight

Re: DRC ride quality
Had a quick spin in a non DRC demo Rs4 today to get some comparison between that and the DRC car I had last week.
I'd say it was about half way between the comfort and dynamic mode in terms of compliancy/softness, but didn't feel too crashy over bumps as the Journo's seemed to say. It's a good halfway house between the two modes with the DRC set up, but certainly not as comfortable as the Comfort setting, but probably just as well suited to our rubbish roads when pushing on as the DRC dynamic setting, which I still think it just too stiff.
The car does roll a bit more, but not enough for it to be rubbish
Being an old man at 42 and doing 99.9% of my driving in comfort, it's not for me, but would suit anyone that just has the car to go for a blast perfectly fine from what I felt

Re: DRC ride quality
Aye but they seem to have made the schoolboy error of switching between comfort and dynamic when the sweet spot is to twixt the two in auto - let the tech continually adjust damping to suit driving conditions. This is how I use DRC in my six.
Re: DRC ride quality
In Autocars YouTube review, they say leave it in comfort. Now I don't think having a DRC car in comfort is the same as a non DRC car so you can't conclude it's not worth it.

Drove Perth Audi’s RS5 yesterday. Was good in auto...was awesome in dynamic. My preference is for a stiffer setting. I liked the RS5...just cant make the numbers work for tht and the macan thats on it’s way...yet...
