Cruise control fault RS4 B7
Re: Cruise control fault RS4 B7
Clutch switch solved my non working cruise control. All good now.

Re: Cruise control fault RS4 B7
I just had this exact problem, so I’ve had the joy that is reading countless threads on it. My upper clutch switch (black/white casing) failed and I couldn’t get the cruise control to engage. This is the switch that disengages the CC if the clutch pedal is depressed.
The lower switch has a blue casing and allows the car to start without depressing the clutch. Apparently, it’s also the switch that causes the revs problems, when changing gear. (Didn’t have this problem, so I can’t be sure)
Here are the part numbers
Upper Clutch Switch (Black/white casing) 7H0927189
Lower Clutch Switch (Blue casing) 6Q0927189
They’re pretty cheap, so it might be worth changing both and be done with it. The upper one is dead easy to change, although there’s an order to changing the lower one and where the clutch pedal is when you put the new one in. Worth getting a pdf of the Audi manual before hand as it seems plenty of people have broken new switches, when replacing the lower one.

Re: Cruise control fault RS4 B7
Surely the operation of these switches can be tested with VCDS to confirm they are the problem?

Nope. But the symptoms are always the same, so easy to diagnose.

DONE: Water Meth Injection, Carbon clean at 64k, CAI, Gutted Precats, Non-res x-pipe, H&R 8mm spacers, H&R springs

Re: Cruise control fault RS4 B7
I think they updated the part a few years ago and the part changed colour.
Re: Cruise control fault RS4 B7
Paul,
The part numbers and casing colors I’ve mentioned in my post above are the latest numbers. The original parts were updated with new part numbers in the last couple of years. The same reason you’re getting confused, is why I ended up reading endless threads. So, I can guarantee they are the latest part numbers.
It’s not a UK/EU website but here are links that show the parts and also the previous revisions for each part.

Re: Cruise control fault RS4 B7
I also changed this upper clutch switch out last year due to no cruise control / holding down of starter button and used part no. 7H00927189. Bought from a local stealer and the casing was black/white £22.
This was the helpful link viewtopic.php?f=35&t=114660#p731104 I used to install as I didn't want to be breaking it after reading the plunger mechanism can be easily damaged if not installed in a certain way.

Re: Cruise control fault RS4 B7
Thank everyone parts ordered and on the way
Re: Cruise control fault RS4 B7
This is getting confusing. I ordered a clutch switch from Audi which according to their diagram is part number 927 189. However, this is not the clutch switch, it’s the brake switch. The diagram shows this switch as being on the left but when operating the pedals this switch is moved by the brake pedal, not the clutch. The same error appears to occur in this guide. Am I going mad?

Re: Cruise control fault RS4 B7
Simple but awkward
Take a look at it first
Remove trim panel for access
Not sure that any tools are even required
Unplug connector from switch
Release switch from bracket by depressing tabs
Snap in new switch
Plug connector in

Re: Cruise control fault RS4 B7
In the guide posted above it says to pull the plunger out first before installing . Is this not necessary then ?
