Meh, trying to find a tyre in a dusty Spanish village is half the fun of a Euro trip.

There must be a space saver somewhere with the correct bolt pattern and diameter that will fit over the rear brakes?

It's the front brakes you'd struggle with

Doesn't matter, you could always put a rear on the front the fit the spare to the rear.

Had a RenaultSport Megane with a space saver, manual said in event of front puncture place rear on front and spare on rear.

This is a subject I've been thinking about recently too. My S4 has a full size spare, so the trip down to Italy wasn't a worry (in that respect).

If I take the RS6 on a long road trip, I'm going to source a standard 19" wheel, and stick it in the roof box.

<beep> sticking a full size spare in the roof box, sliding left and right as you tackle the hairpins. Those boxes are flimsy at best.

It wouldn't be empty lol

And my Thule has been as tough as old boots for the last 11+ years.

Had the misfortune of feeling a tyre 'go' on the entry to the Clyde Tunnel. Had to drive through and stop at first available safe area. Rear offside had been cut in two circumferentially. Abandoned car: Sunday and snowing. Went back on Monday and jacked car on plastic jack and left overnight. Took wheel and shredded tyre to tyre place. They had to use a grinder to remove the inner circle of tyre which was stuck fast to the inner rim. Unbelievably the OEM alloy is in one piece and unbuckled. The majority of the tyre had splayed over and protected the outer rim; the inner had a tight circle of rubber still beaded to the inner rim. Some paint damage only. Black chrome finish since you ask. All is good and car survived a day on jack without being shoved over- posh bit of Glasgow is Broomhill.

I have a similar to this in all my cars along with the pump. Works perfect for fixing a normal puncture. Image

Strange way for the tyre to go?!

I'm just waiting for a puncture or damage to happen. The roads around Glasgow are a disgrace. You'd get lost down some of the potholes.
