MTM Stage 2

Post by mwcltd » Mon Nov 07, 2005 12:08 pm

I have just had the MTM Stage 2 upgrade applied to my RS6+ by QST. The rolling road figures show 540BHP and 750Nm of torque. The difference is fantastic as the torque curve is much flatter between 2500 and 5500 rpm. It accelerates significantly faster than when I had the Stage 1 upgrade and the sound from the new exhaust is so addictive. Although the Stage 2 upgrade is expensive, it is worth every penny.

Sounds better than a standard 6+? Must be excellent. Is it any noisier at legal motorway speeds or just when you open it up?

Do you worry about the gearbox Mark?

Congrats on the job, I'm quite envious!

Cheers, MartynC

The exhaust is no noisier than the standard RS6+ one but it sounds more purposeful. The gearbox is reprogrammed to stop it missing gears because of the higher torque. The reprogramming has made the shift quicker both in automatic and paddle mode. In Germany they have timed an RS6+ with this conversion and the 0-60 time drops to 3.9secs. Early next year I will find out what the 0-100 time is and the top speed.

I was advised that the MTM Stage 3 modification is not really worth the large incremental price over the Stage 2.
