What else is worth changing while the engine is out to fix the oil seal problem please ? 20 hours labour. Engine + gearbox out apparently.
The car is going in to dealer in the next day or two so a good opportunity to do any preventative maintenance.
What else to change when fixing oil seal leak ?
Re: What else to change when fixing oil seal leak ?
The engine doesn't need to be dropped unless the warranty company is paying! If it's out of your own pocket then it's a £1200-1500-ish job at most places like Unit20/MRC/REPerformance etc.
If it is through a warranty company and the engine gets dropped then the coolant pipes in the right wing (rear of the wheel arch) are worth checking at the very least but the vast majority will need "some" repair work doing due to corrosion. After that it's simple things like random gaskets, pipes etc which you'd never know are leaking/split until everything is out of the bay.

Re: What else to change when fixing oil seal leak ?
As mine is leaking, whilst spending some time under the car at the weekend I took a look at the oil pump. Doesn't look like too difficult a job (says the bloke who took best part of a week to change the coolant pipes and will probably carry the scars for the rest of his life) except that it looks to me like there's a brace that has to be removed for access and that brace carries the engine mounts so the engine would have to be supported. Can anybody confirm that thought or am I off-track?
Even with an engine support bar I'd not be too happy working under that sort of weight and as my other half already does her nut if I'm under the car even though its on 3 tonne stands I might have to farm the job out.

I believe Mondial are paying for it at Audi. God bunch down at the Audi garage who looked after it under my ownership..IanH755 wrote: ↑Sun Sep 24, 2017 9:50 pmThe engine doesn't need to be dropped unless the warranty company is paying! Yep, glad to have the Audi Warranty. Oil Seal replacement done at the Main dealer which took 5 days and 20 hours labour. New rear Brake Pads fitted while there as well as an annual service all done. Got them to check the Ceramic Discs which apparently still have plenty of meat left on them, and also got them to check out the coolant pipes while they had the access- all good. Happy days.
