Help car is wandering all over!!!!

Post by Syd3 » Thu Jun 29, 2017 3:58 pm

Hi please help.

Audi R8 v10 spyder 2010 lowered on hand r springs

Travelling at near any speed if I let go of the steering wheel it pulls to the left then the wired bit ,if I accelerate the car pulls straight ish to the right. At motorway speeds the car wanders at the front and feels totally unstable.

I really am not enjoying driving my car at the moment . Any ideas guys ?

Bushes ?

Oh I had the car tracking done a couple of months ago and it was fine before or at least it wasn't very noticeable.

Can tracking go out?

Thanks in advance

Syd

It was fine before you had the tracking done? Where did you take it to get done?
What tyres are you running and how are they tread depth wise?

Hi had the car tracked at align your car . Sorry didn't mention tracking was way out before I had it done and it drove much better. Tyres are Michelin pilot sport and they are new. This has only started happening really over the last 2 weeks getting worse !

Sorry, should have finished my post  .
Glad the sorted you out ok, I'd heard bad stuff since I'd been to them through local companies, but then good stories on here.
Yeah, tracking can easily go out again if travelling on really rough roads and hit a pothole.
It may be worth getting over to them again for another check.

Yeah it was A line in Dudley. Could it be the bushes ? Lower wishbone on the fronts maybe ?

Thanks for your replies !

Do you have any knocking noise when going over uneven ground? If the car is out in a lift it'll be noticeable. Even a place like kwick fit could check that, but me personally, I'd go to a better place.
See if you can get back in with Kevin if you're local enough to A-line.

Forgive me throwing a suggestion out there. If you have lowered it massively, and / or fitted uprated ARBs, double check nothing is fouling when the suspension is loaded. No drop links touching when the suspension is compressed. When the car goes over a bump etc. You'd need to view on a ramp (with the weight on all four wheels) rather than four poster etc.

Its further complicated by the fact that geometry changes as the suspension compresses. Bump steer. So if you have lowered it (say) one inch, the Audi factory geometry settings might not be the best

As per the numerous C7 RS6 threads, the first thing I would try is to wind out the rear axle toe-in that every single car comes with nowadays for rear stability. The difference between a few tenths of a degree toe-in and zero will make a big difference - especially over bumps

How much have you lowered the car over stock?

Knowing Kevin at A-line, I'd be surprised he didn't give give car a once over while it was in there. That's if it was Kevin that worked on it.
