Car tax and DVLA database showing not taxed

Post by ahoooga » Sun May 07, 2017 6:09 pm

Daughter had a minor bump today when someone in front of her braked. She was in traffic, and basically the guy in front pulled away from queued traffic, then stopped abruptly.
No one hurt and they just exchanged details. When she got home I couldn't find anything about his insurer from his details, so I did the .gov.uk 'check a car tax' site for mot and tax and another site to make sure he was insured, he is insured however, it also shows as not taxed since Mar 2016 !

I know some people can get free road tax for disability, blue badge type concessions, but even if they have got 'free' tax, wouldn't the https://www.gov.uk/check-vehicle-tax.gov.uk site show as 'Taxed' ?
thanks in advance

Edit for spelling

In a word, YES. Call the Police! His insurance may well be invalid if not taxed.

No tax does not invalidate insurance. Neither does no MOT.

Regardless of no tax, the OPs daughter has driven in to the back of someone so will likely be found at fault.

You'd be surprised the clauses insurance companies sneak in.
MOT is different as you can legally drive to a pre-booked MOT without one.
