I had totally forgotten about the fact that it is a separate microswitch issue, if memory serves Daveperc has replaced that too at least once over the years. I just remembered this 5 mins ago and am going to phone SJB to get them to add that on as well as it works intermittently.
Just spoke to them and they reckon that will be sorted by replacing the lock tomorrow, guess that means it it inside the main mechanism then, I forget stuff these days.

Well, I'll have a spare in stock now, since the replacment arrived today, along with the new tailgate catch that came in from germany.

FYI the oem latch mechanism fitted in 20mins and works a treat. The drivers side is showing very early signs though

Got the old girl back from SJB today, bloody hell the front doors feel odd. Not bad way odd, just feel like they grab and close differently compared to the 12-13 year old worn mechanisms that came out. Door open detection etc all working perfectly so I am happy, thanks

I was looking at my new drivers side lock earlier and pondering this. Are you sure the release rod is adjusted correctly - that was the trickiest part on the passenger install - you want it as tight as possible so it gets as much pull as possible to open, whilst still closing correctly. My first attempt at fitting the passenger one, I had too much slack in it and it wouldn't open. Or if too tight, it won't latch shut at all?

Below turned up from D2P Autoparts and they worked perfectly as mentioned. No "fascinating" pics of the mechanisms I am afraid, the old, dead ones are in the boxes...
I couldn't tell you regarding the rod Matt as I never pulled the door card myself, just threw some money at a mechanic to sort it while he was doing other hitting other things with his hammer.Current:

Passenger side rear door is working fine but not telling the car the door is open so no courtesy lights so will look into this. Can anyone confirm the D2P mechanisms do make the courtesy lights work?

My drivers one got worse over time so the rod became looser and sometimes wouldn't open the door. Removed it all, couple of turns of the adjuster and works great now.

Makes perfect sense, the only thing I will add if that the way the doors FEEL when they open/close is totally different/better I assume when compared to the 13 year old units that came off. They sound far more solid but I don't know if that is down to different design or if that is how the OE units also feel new.

Today I replace the drivers door lock, plus also resoldered the rear overhead light so that now works to.
Also yesterday replacing the tailgate striker - to find it wasn't that, but that someone had previously put the lock back togther incorrectly leaving "spare parts" for me to find.
All in all, pretty good, though.

Hey I did my rear light too - did yours have the same problem as mine? Dodgy connection on one of the pins so resoldered it, then was a bit intermittent so I bent the contacts a little in the switch and now works great
