Fitting Recaro wingbacks, yellow connector issue

Post by SteveG » Mon Dec 12, 2016 7:25 am

Need some help please guys.

I bought a pair of b7 RS4/ R8 Recaro wingbacks to put in the R8. When I checked the connectors, the yellow connector is a different shape and with one less wire than the yellow one on my original seat ! :( (which was plugged into the car fine). The one on the Recaro is more curved shape, wheras the other is more rectangular in shape. I understand that this yellow connector is for the side airbag. I need to have the plug on the new seat modified to fit the car and retain as much functionality as possible. Can someone help, is there a fix for this please??

There are no airbag's
You need a resistor.

Thanks DK

So is the yellow plug on the Recaro is a resistor ? If so then cutting the yellow plug off the Recaro and attaching one which is the same as on the original seat ( the correct one that will fit the car ) should then work to stop any warning lights on the dash coming on ?

Cheers

The plugs from the original seats won't work. You can get the yellow plugs with resistors from the German eBay. Try this seller, they might have the correct plugs.

The fix was to buy the correct yellow airbag plugs and some terminal wire from Audi. Connected the correct resistor to counter the airbag warning in a loop and plugged into the car on each side.

Thanks for the assistance guys
