SD Cards - whats the best card speed to go for?
as above folks just wanted to know what everyone else is using - don't want to buy a mega fast one if the car is unable to utilise the potential.

Get the slowest possible, you're only playing music presumably, not recording 4K video!
Re: SD Cards - whats the best card speed to go for?
Cards cost about twenty quid for 64GB @ fastest speed, why would you bother paying £2 less for a slower card that you couldn't then use for another device?
Re: SD Cards - whats the best card speed to go for?
I'd be amazed if even the slowest card had any trouble with FLAC let alone mp3.
Will you be using it to watch videos? Even then I'd doubt there would be any issues.

mainly music mike but possibly video good to have the option however, and as I've found for other devices (albeit not music orientated) in the past read/write speeds can be an issue at times.MikeFish wrote:I'd be amazed if even the slowest card had any trouble with FLAC let alone mp3.

Re: SD Cards - whats the best card speed to go for?
Only times I've ever notice read / write time delays are on digital cameras
Re: SD Cards - whats the best card speed to go for?
Tends to be when writing high MP pictures taken in burst and the camera can't send them over to the card fast enough so it fills the cameras buffer and it reduces the amount of pics you can take per "burst".
For watching movies or music a Class 4 Sd card (4Mb a second) is enough but, as wildbore mentioned, as the price difference between a Class 4 and Class 10 Sd card is almost nothing I'd get the fastest card I could for the money I'm willing to spend.
