Used R8 Spyder V10 Manual Purchase Advice Needed

Post by RSQ » Wed Oct 19, 2016 7:46 pm

All,

I am looking for a V10 Manual Spyder as a weekend car.

There are not so many around and most are a very long way from me to test drive, so if I travel to do I have to be meaning to purchase. Here is my shortlist - anyone who knows these cars or has advice on them, aside from "buckets FTW" ;-) I would appreciate.

If you know of any others or want to sell please let me know (no Sepang, White or Red, sorry).

(This one only in as a joke to check you are paying attention)

Many thanks for any info (and thanks to Hyfr for earlier PM advice!).

No2, good spec and price, with ceramic brakes; you'll need them as these things do 195mph.
Mind you all have horrible seats and wheels.
Good luck

Can't be many to chose from full stop, let alone those for sale.

The ceramics one

Super rare with ceramics

The private seller has it advertised, so expect it can be had for £60k direct. Wont lose a penny at that price.

So i sold my V10 spyder 3years ago for same money they are selling for now

There is also this one:

The Ceramics one you mean this one:

Dove house for £65k - no reversing camera and I would need to paint the wheels gloss black. Both do-able but I guess around £1,200 of extra cost. If I could get this one down to £60k it becomes acceptable, but it looks like a dealer, no? Or do you think sale-or-return?

If you look at the shot of the front of the car it looks like there is either a dark mark on the top of the grill or the bonnet is not properly lining up / has an overlap with the grill which is not uniform - just a shadow?

They are 2.5 hours away so test drive a PITA if I am not 100%

Do you think the 7k miles 64-plate one at £85k is a good idea? Or is £85k too high?

Thanks!

Go for facelift one.... you know you want to, personally I don't trust any of these dealers
Zebede

911 C4s cab - summer is fun :D

Panamera Turbo - fully loaded - gone
RS6 C7 - Panther Black - dodgy steering
911 GT3 - awesome but ate tyres
RS4 b8 - Black on Black with Black windows
911 Targa 4s 991 - Black with Grey Leather

the Lawton Brook ones with Buckets looks good,

buckets
carbon interior
ex leather

Lawton Brook are sister company to Oracle Finance, so not a bunch of shysters

The Dovehouse must be SOR as I have seen the private sale advert on AT or Peeheads for £61,950

changing the wheel colour is a £400 job - I wouldn't let that influence the decision

Look out for stone chips - very common to have front repainted due to how low these are, they are a magnet for chips

Ask the dealers for high res pics, or HD video...its 2016 after all

I wouldn't pay £85k for a face lift car - there is no difference really

£65k gets you the same car if you find a good one, so protects you again further depreciation

I put buckets into my V10 spyder

made a huge difference

IMO - the steel brakes are more than man enough. I upgrade the pads to Ferrodo DS2500 & high temp brake fluid, and the car did Spa, Nurburgring, Snetterton ... no issues with braking - even for a heavy car

the buckets gave a great look with roof down, and really enhanced the driving experience vs. the TT fatboy seats
