Mileage
What's people's thoughts on these cars with higher mileage? Talking about 90.000 plus
If well maintained, is there much mechanically to watch for?
I'm ready to buy but not sure how much I should worry about mileage?

Re: Mileage
In my opinion, it's more important that you find a car that's well maintained, and had all the usual issues attended to.

Re: Mileage
Mine is at 135.000km (83 885 miles) and i would say, rather buy one with longer mileage and everything is changed (clutch, brakes, decoked, drc leakage) etc than buying one like i did 3 years ago, which was about 80.000km at the time ( 50k miles) and everything needed to be done soon.
In sweden mileage is much more worth than maintenance, and the prices would be much higher with the car with lower mileage, so try to find a nice one with abit longer mileage but well mantained as Faisal said!

Re: Mileage
I've found one for 15k with 98000 on clock but good service history. Ticks the boxes but mileage has made me think twice about it.
Lots of expensive invoices for work done, so has been well maintained

Re: Mileage
I have read many times that people think they drive better with higher mileage. It is a big engine, that is not under a great deal of stress, so i reckon as long as well maintained, will go on for years. Mine is on 89000 and runs perfect.
2007 black RS4 saloon. Bilstein Coilovers, MRC Re-map, Miltek non resonated valved exhaust with de-cats, Gruppe-M carbon induction, JHM manifold spacers, Stage 2 manifold, cold air feed.
Re: Mileage
Mine had 52k when bought and now 77k. DRC, clutch, oil cooler, decoked all done now plus a lot more. 70k is about the max limit for all of the previous so 90k all should have been done.

Re: Mileage
So as long as they have been well maintained, the engine and g.box are good for a long time?

Re: Mileage
you can tell a lot just by listening and driving a car. I have heard some low mileage ones that sound pretty rough, and some high mileage ones that sound as good as new.

Re: Mileage
Mines just gone over 111k ,I've done 157 miles in 7 weeks
as said above a big engine that isn't really working hard . these cars should see 200k with ease .
But on a negative note if the engine did / does go there 2-3k on e bay and various other sites .

Re: Mileage
I bought mine with 156k miles on, drives like it's done 20k. You wouldn't think it had done anywhere near that mileage because it has been well looked after. As others have said, it's a big 8 cylinder engine, so is under a lot less stress than the same mileage on say, a four cylinder engine.

Re: Mileage
I'd agree with harding.
I bought mine at about 55k miles 3 years ago.
Have put about 30k on it.
But also put a clutch, starter, brakes and DRC. So has been costly enough.

Re: Mileage
Just to keep up with the theme, my car had a few expensive jobs around 70k to 85k miles (I bought it at 88k miles). New clutch, DRC went pop (replaced with coilovers), and new front brakes.
There's a lot to be said for buying a slightly higher mileage car that has already had big jobs like clutch and DRC issues taken care of, and perhaps also other issues out of the way too (oil cooler, aux radiators etc).

Re: Mileage
As the guys have said don't be worried too much about milage it's more about the maintenance history, mine has just turned 84k I bought it at 80k with all the big jobs having been done by previous owner, coilovers, clutch, oilcooler brakes etc which were all done between roughly 65 and 75k,
On the Scottish run one of the B7s had over 150k on it and was going strong,
