I'll have owned mine for 5 years in February and still love it as much as I did when I first got it and can't really imagine selling it. However........, with the M400 now sold, the funds are there to purchase a GT3 to sit alongside the RS4; or alternatively I might sell the RS4 as well and get my ultimate 'target', a GT3RS........
Almost 7 years ownership
Re: Almost 7 years ownership
Hope you enjoy the B8 Iain, seems like a logical progression after a B7 though its not a move that I'll be making. I thought about it a while ago when they first came out and thought they might grow on me, but they haven't. I don't think my next car will be an Audi as there's nothing in the 'sporty' range that really appeals to me now.

Re: Almost 7 years ownership
B8 Manual sounds great.
I have had a few DSG cars and after the initial novelty wears off I find it excruciatingly irritating. When we had the Golf GTI DSG, other agreed who drove the same car.
I never got used to all them revs when sometimes all you want to do is smoothly overtake in 5th/ 6th!!
The B7 we have now is a manul treat every time. Valves open, foot to floor in a high gear and shake other cars as you pass without always hitting the redline that DSG offers annoyingly.
Paul.

You sure?B8 Manual sounds great.
There would be no point in buying one, might as well keep the b7
As much as the b7 is a great Car the b8 IMO is better, and once mine is charged with that gearbox it's going to be epic
Re: Almost 7 years ownership
DSG.....unless they have changed the software recently, even in "Manual" mode, when you hit the floor and feel the full throttle microswitch click, it screams to max revs like its panicking.
The wife has a TT turbo diesel DSG, its 2 years old and even when i drive that it annoys me. She has sometimes said "why to you thrash it so much?" and I answer, its not me its that darn computer that thinks only redline will do if you floor it to the bottom.
B7 = foot to floor in any gear = great induction and exhaust roar even at 40mph in 4/5/6th gear.

Owned a b7 for over 5 years so have a rough idea what they are like to drive!!B7 = foot to floor in any gear = great induction and exhaust roar even at 40mph in 4/5/6th gear.
Don't think a golf DSG or hairdresser TT really compare to a b8
