Re: Road tax changes
So if I tax my car for 12 months when the new system starts and sell it one month in I lose the year??

Re: Road tax changes
I think the monthly payment is a good idea and it answers the question about what happens if you buy or sell a car.

No. You would inform the DVLA and they would refund you for the remaining tax.

Re: Road tax changes
Wonder if its pro rata, or just monthly like the current system? Nice little earner for the DVLA if not - seller and buyer both pay for the same month!Batfinnk wrote:No. You would inform the DVLA and they would refund you for the remaining tax.gilford wrote:So if I tax my car for 12 months when the new system starts and sell it one month in I lose the year??
I have every single tax disc for my 21 year old 205 GTi - I think I'm going to put the 1993/1994 disc in the window!

Re: Road tax changes
What a stupid idea.
The old tax discs are one of the best ways to show valid history and continuity for an old vehicle for any potential buyer or seller and that providence not only gives reassurance but also tends to add value.
Good old government thinking up ways of keeping the tax the same but saving on costs and getting us to do more of the legwork etc for them while getting less in return.
Typical.
