Post by TimDogg » Sun Dec 08, 2013 11:45 pm

Just bought this little puppy - just getting used to the MMI 3G but this car should take us to the ski resorts in France hopefully.

£25k with 7k miles, ex-demo on a 13 plate, haggled a little but was happy with the deal and px. It has most toys but no leather seats as they were a very expensive optional extra. HDD Sat Nav with MMI 3G, parking sensors and display, auto lights/wipers, bluetooth for phone and directory etc, Audi Drive Select (I swear this does nothing), DVD, Jukebox (30Gb hard-drive). You can put 2 x SD Cards in, I'll put in 2 x 32Gb I reckon and connect a hard-drive to the MMI with MP3s and AVIs so I can play films for the wife.

It's good for 2 people or 2 with young children but I'd go for an A6 or Passat if you really need space in the back. I'm using it for trips to European cities and hopefully it will be good in the winter which the Passat wasn't. Have a look at a few before you buy obviously - they can be pricey especially the 3.0 TDi, this is a 2.o and I get nearly 40 mpg so can't complain from a 4x4 and that's double the RS4. The drive is a bit disconnected but it would be from a stock Audi, I bought the car for its utility so I'm good.

I'm happy and the wife too, she still has the MX-5 which she loves to bits.

I'm not convinced I'd buy an RS model from them though - one of their salesman was travelling home from work in an RS6 doing '3 figures' - his words - and hit a pheasant.

It did this to the new car - that'll be £3500 of damage then and I bet the new owner won't know about that in a hurry (I've lightened this).

Looks nice Tim, perfect for those winter skiing trips. I too hit a pheasant while at Millbrook with Audi doing about 110 on the mile straight in an RS6, luckily there was no damage so I had another run, that is one quick car for the size and weight.

I reckon too big for UK roads - the Passat felt big and the A6 too which is why we picked the A4 for our 'utility' vehicle. The Lotus is in storage now Paul, what's yours doing - still running it over winter?

Agree about the RS6 being too big, Greame brought his loan car to the Kent meet last Sunday, his had build quality issues too.

Yes the Exige is still out and about, gave it a quick blast on Sunday before the meet. It's on Toyo R1r on now, My plan is to use it on dry days, the car is taxed and insured for the year so I might as well use it.

Mine is also just taxed but will be stored until the spring - I can take it out anytime so will look for a dry weekend in Feb and go down and do some touring around the Cotswolds. I must admit to preferring to driving it with the top on - I did think about getting a hard-top, adding a spoiler and keeping it but I have many cars and just can't drive them all. It did used to have a spoiler - think it was a very much loved track toy, I've added some carbon bits but I'd like a stage 2 for the RS and getting rid of the Lotus will free up the funds for it. I must admit that the 'Set' button on both the dash and the Cruise Control feel a bit cheap on the A4 so I can understand build quality issues - small points though, the car does feel solid.

It is 'allroad' though and not 'random dirt track' - I've already grounded it out once :(

Thanks Timdogg. Useful info, strange that I get excited about an all road when I have an rs in the garage but I've always liked them!

You need two buddy....it is weird but I've just thrown an old 8Gb iPod at it with zillions of songs and eat can play them all from the iPod or suck them up into its Jukebox thingy. Just makes me realise what crap music I have :(

I needed a 2nd 4x4 for the winter - so decadent lol!
