My experience of reaching the top of ventoux meant all my blood was in my legs and my eyes/brain hardly registered the sights

I rode up with an old training partner of mine who was ex euro pro and about 100w stronger / 10kg lighter. It hurt...

G. If it ain't hurting like feck you ain't peddling hard enough. Maxed-out my heart rate this year, trying to beat a 2012 time up Bedoin side (207bpm). Prob should'a done a quick time on the first day, not the 6th ascent in a week? Great place for cycling obsessives' to hang out - shame about the driving ban on the way home; someone told me I'd be OK...can't think who!

Blimey, 207. I think mine's brushed 200 on occasion, but that was on something controlled like a 10min FTP (used to be 390watts @ 69kg)

69kilos hope your over 6ft, my max is 189 at 44 years old and 66 kilos at 5ft 10 not bad, race weight will be 64 to 65 kilos.
Roubaix next year did this year 108 miles just under 6 hours hoping, to beat this buy 20 mins next year.

I'm 5,11 and nearer 78kgs now a year or so on since I was racing (read as 'fat bastard' )
I could've got a few more kgs, but as I was swimming 15k/week, getting leaner would've started to effect my swim as needed to have some arms, not those weedy things the tour guys have

Roubaix has always intrigued me, but I'm not sure I could put up with the discomfort of the pave

the point of roubaix is comfort - that's what the zertz are for so should all be good..

Heck Roubaix isn't called hell of the North for now't; rode a few miles last year inc Arunberg 2.5 km, it has to been seen to be believed TBH. Spartacus is my fav' rider for good reason.

Have done many of these kind of things over the years and I started with the etape du Tour at 27yrs old which I recall felt like hell. I was wrong course...that title goes to 'any race' you've not adequately prepared for.

RivBlueB8 have you thought about matching the colour of the wing mirror covers to your rims? or going Carbon as a 2nd option. I think it would finish off the look lovely.
