MoTeC Fitted at last!

Post by S4RS4 » Mon Nov 22, 2004 9:53 pm

Well, I just got my car back from having the Motec ECU conversion. What a difference! With the RS4 engine, I had 415bhp before and it now feels much quicker than that. Have not done any power figures yet. Still waiting for the FMIC to arrive, then it is hybrid turbo's, custom exhaust, some more mapping and that should do it.

Took it around Mallory Park on Sunday. Apparently, there was some nice flames out the exhaust on the overun. Oh, and the front brakes were on fire. All good fun though.

Anybody fitted Motec before?

is this Motec ECU piggybacked over the existing ecu, or replacing it?

Yes, how are things like drive by wire and dash functions maintained?

All this can be taken care of by adding options to the base MoTeC ECU. You just pick the options you need. As for how it works, talk to Keith at Dialynx.

why replace the Bosch unit, instead of reprogramming it? Which Motec are you using, the M800? There is a lot of programming in the Bosch unit which is designed to stop the engine handgrenading itself, it would be a shame to put all that code on one side.

I have posted on here before about my inabiliyu to get the early S4 ECU to work well with the RS4 engine. I also want easier programming for future mod's. I got the M600 unit.

Not the Audi codes because there is no Audi ECU! But you can still perform data logging and analyse what is going on. This side of it is better than the Audi code system.

Would love to know what your getting in terms of BHP mate. SHould be close to 500ponies I would expect, certainly above 450.

Just found a local rolling road that will do a power run for £60. I have previously paid AMD £120 for a straight power run. Will post the results when done.

Just hada quick rr power run - 447bhp. It certainly feels like it. Can't wait for the FMIC because I know I have inlet temperature issues. Then the hybrid turbo's.
