Quattro and changing tyres?

Post by gilford » Thu Jul 25, 2013 9:59 am

After taking delivery of the RS5 just over a week ago the supplying Audi garage has agreed to replace a front tyre due to there being a big chunk in the front drivers side tyre wall.

Even though I've owned an RS4 and an RS3 I have never had to replace tyres on any of them, I'm presuming I'm ok to replace just the one front tyre and not have to replace both?

Sorry for the stupid question :?

Depends on the wear really - you generally want all four tyres largely the same ish where possible.
Should be in the owners manual - I remember reading something about changing tyres and limits.

To be fair the passenger side has got loads of tread on it where as the drivers side with the chunk missing is a lot lower, I presume they have shoved a part worn on hoping I wouldn't notice, car drives spot on though so I can't see it being an issue?
