Re: Nostalgia attack, can buy back my favourite car I sold
Nice. As for times, no fecking idea whatsoever. That would involve mashing that god awful OFF/ON paddle clutch with the loud pedal to the floor, using the antilag that I am having disabled and also figuring out how the launch control works that I am also having disabled to preserve bits on her. I can't be that harsh to the car to do that to her. I went out one last time last night to play with the adjustable diff and found that setting her on max rear split and putting in far too much power made her quite hilarious! The 6 is great for traffic light GP, I can't imagine myself ever doing it in this.bam_bam wrote:The collective noun for chav is an "Easyjet".

With all the suspension so well fettled on this, it totally outclasses my old Evo VII and I genuinely didn't think I would drive a car any time soon that would do that. Booked in to Subaru4You on the 22nd to health check her, figure out why there is such a valley of death in the power delivery and why she really runs out of puff from about 120 onwards, ripping out that "fucken shocken" clutch and sticking in an ACT uprated organic job, jacking her by an inch or so on the suspension to make it somewhat bearable as a daily driver, replacing the exhaust from hell and then seeing if the torque can be increased as it is plop at only 380 ftlbs (the 2.5 lump would have been better for torque but such a flaming minefield when running higher HP).. God knows what else I will find to throw at her

Here, you can see that the power delivery is far too relaxed:
Here is a recent dyno from a similar car but with the smaller SC42 turbo, rated to 420hp:
Night & day difference in the delivery. I shall get to the bottom of it, will just involve money being thrown or swapping some of the fuel delivery system across from Fluffy, joy.

Re: Nostalgia attack, can buy back my favourite car I sold
Right, update and opinion time please. I have torn out everything from Fluffy's engine bar the main lump itself and will be yanking the gearbox this weekend in theory. I now hate the paddle clutch on the new one that I am pretty well not going to drive her again until it gets replaced in a couple of weeks. Lots of modding bits ordered, mostly engine-related to further compliment the tune and hopefully get me a bit more torque. uprating the droplinks too and probably going to transplant the anti-lift kit from Fluffy to her once I am under there ripping the gearbox out,
Wheels, wheels, wheels. I have been going around in sodding circles trying to decide on what to get her. I cannot get the wheels I originally wanted in the width I wanted. I would have to use spacer so forget that. If I had the money to waste I would be running Superturismo LM rims like Brutus but I can't justify it. I am swinging towards a set of Rota G-Force rims in 18"x9, which the Scooby wheel expert reckons will just fit within the arches with 235 F1 rubber and no stupid sidewall stretching. I have my doubts and the arms come out from the hub to the rim edges so they will stick out a bit, but....
Example pics:
Look like 18"x8.5 to me.

Not going jet black and not going silver. Looking at gunmetal or hyper black. What do you think, rice rocket haters or otherwise?

Right, wheels ordered. The guy assured me that the first photo is hyper black but I have my doubts. Trying to sort out the permanent insurance on her today and Admiral won't add her to my multicar insurance and pretty well everywhere else wants £700+ What the actual fcuk? Declared as social use only, 2000 miles use annually if that, mod free (cough). Got to love how they still rape you on jap crap imports.

Re: Nostalgia attack, can buy back my favourite car I sold
Waffle. Wheel order cancelled as not convinced, so I am driving there on Saturday to talk to the wheel guys (assuming I have any eardrums left....) and get them to stick some wheels on before I make my decision.
Got insured with Keith Michaels in the end. After a lot of head scratching from their end about why the quotes were all coming out so high, they spoke directly to the underwriters, discussed my circumstances (2500 miles a year at a real push) and the other cars I have and they knocked it down to £495 with £250 excess and full cover for ALL the modifications on a like for like replacement basis. Frikkin' sweet.

Re: Nostalgia attack, can buy back my favourite car I sold
Right, after 2.5 hours driving that riced up POS along with madam as passenger to Ruislip/back in assorted traffic, straining my left thigh, calf and right calf on the heavy accelerator then falling asleep after being physically drained by the hellish experience, new wheels ordered. Wasn't feeling great yesterday and forgot that I had taken all the wheel tools out of the boot due to the assorted boot leaks so drove up there to get various wheels bolted on, only to realise that I didn't have the security key. Classic moron move.
Lined up a few wheels as well as we could and in the end I went with the above rims but in 18x8.5 flavour to make sure they fit inside the arches instead of that stick out crap. Can't get them in that colour/size over here so they are being sent off to be powder coated to Hyperblack/slightly lighter if I am lucky and F1 235/40/18 rubber all round.
Tried out the Launch Control once, sod that, as expected the strain it puts on the drivetrain is ridiculous. New tasteful switch bought from Maplin to replace the fecking stupid silver inch long silver lag/launch switch in the. Took madam to a quiet road around here to finally try driving it. She almost stalled twice but managed not to. However, she never made it out of second/past about 20mph and just kept saying "how the f*cking hell can you drive this thing" VAGmobiles have really been too good to us it seems.
Pretty well decided that the Coilovers are coming off and KYB adjustable shockes/Eibach lowered springs going on, some more Whiteline goodness just to finish off what is already on there. ACT 515ftlbs uprated organic clutch ordered after recommendation that it feel very similar to OE (believe it when I feel it), getting rid of the stupid ass heavy POS paddle clutch contraption. Going to have the gearbox/DCCD diff taken apart at the same time to check hem over/possible replace 2nd as feeling a bit synchroey to me.
Hit boost/fuel cut twice yesterday, once going down the long downhill on the M3 towards J4, pulling away at an embarrassingly slow rate from a fiesta Zetec S, god this thing is plop lol. Feck me I love my RS6.....

It is looking more and more like I will be selling the Cupra D_K, just in absolutely no rush to for various reasons. If after all the work being done to soften the Scoob doesn't work out, I will be getting shot of the Scoob and keeping the Cupra. Will let you know and would possibly put it up on here too.

Stretch, are you
You may get rid of this scoob aswell? You own an RS6, chill with the jap stuff and enjoy being a VAG owner.
ps, I do love those wheels above!
