Thanks for the replies guys, what a friendly lot you are :D

A couple of Q&A's from the replies so far -

As a couple have said 'sound pack' is part of the Black edition, so a bit of a duplication on my part. I just wanted to make sure I got my B&O!

@ D_K & 535dboy The 5 segment alloys I believe are a 'no cost option' instead of the Rotors. Or at least according to the DtD website. Don't get me wrong I love the dark gun metal rotors on the white S4, but not sure on blue. I saw an image of the 5 segments on an estoril blue and thought it looked awesome.

With regards the advanced tech pack, I'm afraid thats the geek in me. I deffo want the sat nav & saw that for an extra £400 over the tech pack high you can get adaptive cruise in the advanced pack. Sounds good, not sure how good it is in real life. Must agree though that the lane assist sounds a waste of time.

@longdog & gangstarrrrrr - I forgot to add ADS & damper control to my spec list!, I agree they are a must along with the sports diff (now in my options list!). How do you find the difference between comfort - sport etc. Where does it sit in comparison to the standard suspension setup?

@Nickyboy yeah remember you had a couple of probs with your car. Mines been faultless, but the yearning for the S4 has become too much!

One question I need to know - on the standard bluetooth, does this bring the phonebook / caller ID onto the car display?

Test drive now booked on Saturday

I have Bluetooth low and that brings the phone book in. The standard probably does too but I don't know. I should have got Bluetooth high, the price difference is relatively small and Audi Connect looks great.

Ha - most of us our friendly, you just haven't 'met' bam bam yet :)

Ok on tech pack advanced - the cruise is ok and probably if better use if you spend more time on motorways than I do

As posted elsewhere above do consider heated seats and convenience pack the latter offering the memory seats which can be usefule but also the kerb dipping nearside mirror which is helpful when parking

Also if you like your gadgets then the high beam assist works well (better than my previous BMW) and is a relatively cheap option.

I think that is true (there were the same debates on the new boxster when I ordered that but went 'Hi' anyway) but am I right in thinking Audi connect doesn't work with iPhone.

Correct. It doesn't support the necessary protocol. But you can pick up a cheapo SIM card that does data only for about 10 quid for the year.

Pooch, are you taking a FL S4 for a drive? There are minor changes which makes it slightly more desirable. If not make sure you take an S-tronic if taking a non-FL.

When you drive it make sure you get to really feel the grunt and traction in 1st and 2nd. I made a stupid error overtaking (in the wet and dark) someone coming onto a dual carriageway which suddenly turned into a very sharp bend. I must have been hitting the top of 2nd so about 50-55 and in front of me was the middle reservation. I figured this was a definite crash. However turned in as hard as I could and even in the wet Quattro ate it up without so much as a twitch. I don't even have the differential which just shows how good, to me anyway, Quattro is. Saved my life I think as it would have been a head on collision. I don't think F/RWD would have dealt with it.

In my view there's a decent difference between Comfort and Dynamic. My car has ADS and Diff etc and my Individual setting for just making like a commuter on our <beep> Surrey roads is Comfort all round but Auto for steering. This adds enough weight (and perhaps feel) to make it into a good setup for comfy progress. Then Dynamic is one click away clockwise and the difference is marked. Much tighter suspension control and of course sharp throttle and weightier steering. I like.

I drove a few passive suspension cars before buying mine and reckon that they are closer to Dynamic than Comfort on an ADS setup.

And as has been said before, iPhones don't support the full-fat Bluetooth setup that's on offer from the High Tech Pack, so you only get a normal Hands-free profile, but it does import full contact info, so that's good. You lose the full 12v transmitter/receiver facility and text messaging though - but buy a SIM for the slot (or insert the one from your iPhone) and that works fine.

Does your car have the dynamic steering option and how is it?

@ringa Thats exactly what I was hoping to hear. I want the damper control to give a softer ride when the folks are in tow. Was a bit worried that it started at the same level as passive suspension and just got firmer. Sounds like there is a bit of tolerance you can play with.

@nickyboy - going to see a 62 plate, not neccessarily to buy as it doesnt have the ads or diff. It does has supersports seats and tech high and sound pack. So you never know! First time with S-tronic so that'll be interesting :o

@ 535dboy - I think I hit the triangle (with exclamation mark) on your post. Not sure if thats good or bad! If bad I apologise, but fat fingers on my phone  point the mods to this post if need be.

Not sure I'm totally clued up on the Bluetooth options as I have the Iphone, don't really care about texts etc as long as I can get the phone book / caller ID on screen. I didn't realise there was a sim card slot though, and that 12m free data card looks interesting.

I will report back tomorow after the test drive :)
