Rollcages and bucket seats to be banned from the 'Ring?

Post by sonny » Sun Dec 23, 2012 4:18 am

Looks like that new rules are enforced on TF (public days) for next year (2013).

Will no doubt effect a lot of ppl. To some degree I kind of see why they are doing it, to stop race cars practicing on TF days.

More info on BTG http://bridgetogantry.com/2/index.php/h ... ats-banned

In summery,

No wrap around bucket seats

Roll cages must be protected, i.e motorsport padding to be used

No snap off steering wheels

Side impact bars must not be higher than steering wheel or hinder driver in escape

No HANS devices

Seems like reasonable steps but I don't think it will resolve our insurance problem any time soon :(

That seems barmy. In an accident you move around massively with a standard seat and seat belt, a bucket seat and harness is much safer.

Think the point is to discourage track day antics when anyone with an engine can turn up.

It reads its only the "full " wrap round bucket seats as in pro race cars .. Due to the fact your visibility is reduced .

Yes, glad I have my Pole Positions fitted in the Clio.

Updated main thread.
