National Gathering Updated, Sunday 15th July

Post by 22B » Mon Jun 18, 2012 8:01 pm

Just thought I’d bring this back up to the top again and remind everyone about it. Last year we had about 40 cars present and a great day in every respect.
Venue; The Old Lodge Malton, Yorkshire.
The weekend will include some, or maybe all of the following;
1)Getting a local detailer to come along and demonstrate ‘how to do it’ properly.

2)Informal ‘concours’ competition , similar to last year where everyone is given a voting slip and allowed to vote for the various classes of car( best avant, saloon, and cab, as well as favourite car)There will be prizes for each of the category winners. Last year we had prizes generously donated by MRC, Revolution Motorstore, RS246, and myself. This is not meant to be an overly serious thing, just a bit of fun. It does however encourage everyone to make an effort to present their car at it best for the ‘show’ and the many photographs that will undoubtedly be taken.

3) ID badges with your real and forum name will be issued to everyone again. This worked really well last year as it put faces to the names and made it much easier to go up and speak to your forum buddies that you may not have met before.

4) A team quiz on Saturday night with an Audi /cars theme to it (obviously!)

5) A raffle/charity auction on Sunday afternoon with any money raised going towards ........ something yet to be decided! If anybody has anything they would like to donate to this please PM me with your offering. This could be anything from spare Audi bits you’ve got lying about to a bottle of wine/whisky/ whatever.

6) A visit to Specialist Cars in Malton on SATURDAY afternoon. Some very interesting cars (mainly Porsche) in stock along there and I for one would like to go along for a look.

THE IMPORTANT BIT!

I’ve arranged the food with the Old Lodge again so we can all have lunch between 1300 - 1400. I’m sure everyone would agree that the food last year was absolutely first class with virtually everyone present having a meal. In order to get things organised for both the hotel and for myself, I need to know how many people are intending to come and if you are eating. PLEASE ADD YOUR NAME AND YOUR FOOD SELECTION TO THE LIST BELOW IF YOU ARE INTENDING TO COME/ LIKELY TO COME, PLEASE DO NOT JUST TURN UP ON THE DAY AS THERE MAY NOT BE SPACE FOR YOUR CAR OR SPACE FOR YOU IN THE RESTAURANT! There is a choice of 3 roasts; lamb, beef or pork, a fish option and a veggie also. Cost is £10.95 or £15 with a desert.

Hi all,
Just a quick update on the National Meet.

Marc of MJR Valet and Detailing in Leeds has very kindly offered to come along and give 1 lucky RS246 attendee a free detail on the day!
The live detailing will also form the basis for a tutorial / Q&A session for those who want to learn more about the finer aspects of bodywork care for their P&J.
More details about Marc can be found in Klausters thread here http://forum.rs246.com/viewtopic.php?f=35&t=97481

(PhilT - apologies if I'm perhaps overstepping the mark wrt advertising, site sponsors etc)

I'm not entirely sure how I'm going to go about picking said lucky owner but I'll come up with some sort of competition to ensure everyone gets a fair and equal chance of volunteering their vehicle.
Watch this thread and I'll fire up more details in the coming days.

Said lucky wwinners car will be full of swirls so not only should they get a free detail, they also get a slap for getting it into that state in the first place? :bigblink:
