Correct. They're never going on my RS4 again. Didn't like the feel of them either, the PS2s and F1s gave more progressive feel and better wet grip IMHO.

I got 14k out of PS2s and 11k out of F1 assymmetrics.

Chatting to my neighbour today and he was pi**ed off at: A. needing a new set of tyres for his A4 after 23,000 miles and B. they cost £400.I wish we were so lucky!

Depends on your budget and your driving but the three most referred to are Michelin PS2/3, Goodyear F1's and Vredestein Ultrac Sessantas.

I didn't mean it like that. PS2/3' are approx. £1200 for four, Vredesteins are £750 and Goodyears are £800 approx. PS2's are very quiet and have excellent grip levels, Vredesteins are a little noisier and have very good grip (90-95% of PS2's) but last double the distance of PS2's from forum members experience, Goodyears are somewhere in between..

Hence why I said it depends on your budget, what value for money you expect from them and whetehr lngevity and good grip vs outright grip for trackdays etc is your priority.

Vredestein Ultrac Sessantas, £689 delivered Click-on tyres, best tyre i have used, very good grip wet and dry. if you search on here you will also find some impressive figures for miles achieved before they need replacing

For the pure driving experience I have to say Eagle F1 Asymmetrics 255/35. They have been absolutely faultless. I have used them in the snow and on the track, the tyre is God like. The PS2s fall into this category as well, however I yet to "experiment" with these.

I'd agree with Dave on the handling, however best life is subjective, 28k miles out of my last set of Vredesteins and 6mm left after 10k miles this set including running them through the snow which is notoriously bad for summer tyres and best rim protection would be Goodyear or Vredestein

I fitted all 4 corners with Goodyear F1 Asyms after a puncture. Now 6500 miles later, the RS4 failed MOT on exposed carcass on front tyres. The rears are about 50% worn (forget how many mm that is).

I drive mainly in city but I do like to drift every tight corner and roundabout. That may have something to do with it but is it usual to experience much higher front end wear?

These cars are heavy at the front and have a tendency to under steer a lot (even if you dont realise) So it is norm imo for the fronts to wear more. If you regally track your car the NSF will wear the most. If is worth swapping tyres around (fronts to back) to get equal amount of life out of the tyre. I have rotated mine twice now.

"Carcass" I take it you mean the inside of the tyre wall is visible, that takes some doing. Sounds like your car could do with a alignment.
