Engine and Box

Post by jsmith1910 » Wed Sep 29, 2010 9:15 pm

Hi guys,

unfortunately my RS is no more, thanks to someone deciding it would be better with their car impaled in the back of it, its been sent off by the insurers but i dont know what to do now, im thinking of buyback and sell the car in parts but before i make this decision i was wondering roughly what a c5 engine and box is worth, bearing in mind the engine running 500+BHP was rebuilt inc new turbos less than 200miles ago :( the box was done around 1-2k miles ago if that

Advice please! im stuck on what to do,

thanks Jay

Gutted for you mate! Its just sickening! Make sure you get a decent payout for it if you decide not to buy the car yourself. (Hmmm wondering if it will fit into my Mk1 Cortina......... :rocker:)

I personally would fit for a decent payout. You might be ok. My pal was driving home from the takeaway last year in his mint M3 and a young lad in a Corsa hit him head on (and subsequently died at the scene). He was expecting a £9k offer from the insurance but instead was offered £16k for a 53 plate with 60k. I would save the hassle off stripping and selling. Its a buyer market just now and there's quite a few nice ones on here with plenty of work just completed to the same level as yours.
