Some 18 months ago when I did mine, the Tubi wasn't easy to source quickly. Ultimately I went with Stuart at AAS coz the quality is superb. Made from 304 stainless, 2.5" bore, 200 cell cats, X over pipe, large oval tips, fitted for £1550. This is much cheaper than Milltek's full system and it sounds superb.
Caldy do you have any photos of you set up bud? Sounds like an interesting alternative! Do they do a straight forward cat back like miltek or is it the full race set up only?
They will do an x-pipe only, cat back or full system dependent on what you want.

It was fascinating to watch experts at work - to achieve this from scratch was very impressive!

Your thoughts on braking upgrade for the rs4
1. Goodridge brake lines
2. rs29 pagid yellow

It also sounds awesome having been behind caldy on Sunday on a 'spirited' run. Just a shame for family reasons (wife in particular) it is a bit too loud. For me it would be ideal.

Like said before and soory to those who think I sound like a broken record but AAS do some serious kit for proper race cars and know what they are doing with excellent results. I have not heard anyine who has been unhappy with what they do from Audi, Subaru, Japanese and Amercian Muscle Car forums.

Upgrades

Post by caldy » Tue Oct 20, 2009 1:01 pm

Perhaps I'm not the best to ask coz I've done very little so far in that dept. However:
1. Goodridge hoses I've always used on bikes and they have firmed up the feel.
2. Can't comment on pads coz I've only done 5k miles so haven't changed yet.
3. Still on standard discs. If I upgrade, it'll probably either be to BREMBO or JHM. The JHM appear rather 'thin' and may wear out quick. Jim seems to love his BREMBO upgrade. The MOVITs look terrific but are expensive. The US guys are upgrading from stock to ALCONs and then onto BREMBOs. If money were no object then a Carbon set-up would do it for me. A guy in Germany sells odd calipers for carbon discs which would need brackets to spacer out over the disc. Not sure if that's the way to go.
4. I re-filled with Fuchs Silkolene Pro Race Fluid Racing Dot4 and have had no problems.
Hope this helps.

That was 18 months ago - not quite so clean now, but still only 5100 miles up. Mind, they were very special miles!
