H&R Antiroll bar mounting bracket

Post by pcfnet » Tue Sep 08, 2009 4:49 pm

hi,

my car has some metal cracking sound from rear so I brought it to my garage for inspection. He told me the mounting bracket that hold the antiroll bar is crack and creating a lot of noise. I also felt the car cannot go steady at all times.

does anyone have such experience?

thanks

Yep, I changed to the Hotchkis ARB's fitted by Grizz. No problems since and much better handling

Hi
Yes had exactly the same on mine, if you have major cracking take the the whole rear subframe out and get it welded properly, with mine I also had it shotblasted and re-painted, then contact Doug at M.R.C and get a set of rear strengthening brackets, mine has H+R rear anti roll bar fitted and after fitting the new brackets it made a world of difference.
Hope this helps.

thanks for sharing your comments. my mechanics told me this is a common fault of the audi quadtro, however he is now thinking whether welding is possible or not coz the crack is quite severe. I have already got H&R installed by previous owner so no need to change the ARB

I have installed the powerflex for couple of months, his comment is DONT do this unless you are on track. he said the powerflex is good, but just that it will translate massive stress to the suspension components which will age their lifetime dramatically.

I am in Hong Kong and keeping more than one car is really a luxury, however I think if I want to keep this babe I must get another day to day vehicle.
