Either way its not good news, glad you understand it was a little stupid. I never drink with a drop inside me, but that's because I can't stop once I start - maybe the mornings might be risky though! In your case you obviously tried to be careful (and within the law) and ended up marginally over. Obviously no stupidity intended (despite some of the comments) and I hope you get a reasonable outcome...

it was in a 7.5 tonner on the A9, I was told by the transport manager that 60 mph was the limit for that vehicle... its 50mph on that road, so first time in a 7.5 tonner i got caught...doing 56 hardly a land speed attempt!!

first points in 22 years driving as well i hasten to add.

Although 56mph is not a land speed attempt the momentum carried by a 7.5t lorry is 66% more than a RS4 @ 90mph. I.e. over twice as much damage in an accident.

They may have been your first points in 22yrs. But they are points nonetheless and considering the type of vehicle you were driving and the fact you got off with points you ought to think yourself lucky. A long ban would have been more appropriate.

Marcus I AM sorry to hear it I don't care what anyone says.
I hope that they do take into account your driving history, which is better than mine I might add.

I never take my car keys with me because I dont trust myself ESPECIALLY after a few drinks. I dont know about anyone else but my descision making is altered after 2 pints apparently I become bolder and more confident in my own abilities........................

It used to be 35 plus a 5 tolerance therefore 40 and youre ok, obviously at 41 youre not.

They also used to take two readings at the machine in the station and its the lowest one that counts............... well thats how it used to be anyway.
I got a reading of 41 & 39 so I was ok, but this was 10years plus ago!
Now have two village pubs within 100metres of the house !

Did they take two readings and charge you on the lowest reading ?
