Audi have a choice when it comes to tyres and they go for the ones that match the dimensions they need and which they get the best deal on. My old S3 came with Brigestone RE050's and they were awful, the S4 came with Continental SC2's, equally as bad and my RS4 came with Conti SC3's, crap. On all three cars the Goodyears have been far superior.SJ-RS4 wrote:Is it manufacture recommendations that the RS4 has P-Zeros, or are VAG tie in with a relationship with Pirelli, as I have seen a few new Lambos with them on also, just wondered!
After reading this I may will go for 275s, I did the CCC by Don Palmer and we was chatting about tyre sizes, he seems to be all for the 255 and recommended it was not worth going up to 275s, just a thought.
As for the tyres, Contis' Priellis, Goodyear et al are 'all weather' tyres, not summer of winter. Because of their high surface contact patch with a cold road they will not perform as well in winter but like Tartan Rob said, the Goodyears have always performed better than the others in these conditions.
As for Don palmers comments, what was his reasoning for his conclusions apart from sticking with OEM because the manufacturer has put on a certain tyre?
