Had my barge 6 months now- nowhere near bored. Every week brings a new experience (not all of them good actually)
I had a fall-out with Audi 5 weeks ago and , after being without my car for 10 days, I told them to poke it. The trouble was that after having driven an E500, a Cayenne and an M5 I realised that there really is no substitute so I got it back off them.
Happy as Larry really-
Hope you enjoy the next three months as much as the first three.

Over 10 months & 22k miles and still a happy bunny, mostly. The only thing that grinds a bit is the distinct lack of Shell stations "out in the sticks" necessary to easily obtain the magical elixir of eternal joy (A.K.A. Optimax).

3 months

I changed mine after 3 months!!! After having the Abt works done on it. Was a good car really really quick on the straights but like the QE2 in the corners!! The sound is fantastic especially with a milltek on it!! In the end decided it wasn't the car for me and simply not nimble enough (gutted when I couldn't keep up with a civic type R round knockhill) But as a motorway muncher and long distance cruiser it's unbeatable

I thought you weren't supposed to run an RS6 on Optimax because of the valve issues? Or have I got the wrong end of the stick?

Cheers

I'm still waiting for further information. Audi tell me to run my car on 98RON - the only 98RON I can find is Optimax. Audi have not told me not to use Optimax. Perhaps I'll ask my dealer about it.Thorney, are you prepared to say any more on this issue?

The RS 6 manual states quite clearly that use of high engine speeds and full throttle can damage the RS 6 engine when running on 95 RON fuel, and recommends 98 RON fuel exclusively. As Optimax is the only fuel I nkow of that's 98 RON (actually slightly over), Optimax it is. I've only had one tank of 95 (dealer PDI fill-up ), £5 worth of splash-and-dash when an RTA had me diverting away from my nearest Shell with a near-empty tank, and one tank of 97 RON last week when that's all I could find.

The S4 engine issue is unrelated to any RS 6 issues AFAIK.

The S4 issue is something to do with dropping valves. For some reason it's blown up (no pun intended) big-style in the US, the Audiworld B6S4 forum has a list of people with problems so they can go and give Audi of America some grief.
