That's what I said above Rob (but a tad more accurate ) - you bin on the Stella tonight?

Well yes I have actually, but you said 6.9 not 0.69!

Oh and I'll be happy to do some road test figures in a fortnight or so

Good point, should be on Stella rather than Vladivar The decimal point can destroy the strongest man

Rob, your help on this will be much appreciated

new file 30-100mph 4 gear

Post by smurfbus » Thu Oct 16, 2003 4:19 pm

So in my baby it took 10.75 seconds from 30mph to 100mph. the other runs I had to ease off because of traffic.

edit: sample interval was 0.05 and the runs were accel. continious.
Y is g-smoothed. X mph
I found better busstop but now I cant see the comeing traffic so only 1/3 of the run are good. I'll try early sat. sun. mornings to get full 0-200kmph.
wether was good 7 C
other setup is:
mass 3701 lb MY 98 S4 sedan full run with full tank other two with nearly empty tank.
cda 0,69
roll res: 19 235/35 pirelli nero 0.015 estimate
tilt factor 0.010
roll factor 0,014
smoothing 0.004

top HP showed 303-307whp @ 91mph witch sounds alot for stg 2+.

with your tilt factor and roll factor, is your suspension standard?

Just done a few runs and this was the only one with no traffic.

4th gear only, 30mph=1600rpm in 4th with boost coming in at around 3200rpm.

Image

Indicates 418hp peak at the wheels, which when adding a factor of 42% = 593bhp at the flywheel. Rolling road next week will confirm how accurate this is Image, but doesn't seem too far off.

I have KONI orange with some lowering. family car with hard winter conditions so not too low or hard.

I thing tilt does not affect these kind of easy starts unless you have crasy power and soft suspension.

I measured the runs with continious accel so I could do more accurate graph.

Where did you find out about the correction factor for ap22?

42% would give too much power in my case. IMO 433hp with k03 is not going to happen. normal dyno whp is something like 17-22 % correction and usually calculated as xwhp/0,78 if 22% loss used. that should give me 307/0,78 = 393 witch is too much too. 17% makes 370 witch I believe with 7 C is absolute max possible ever for k03's. then again these are not absolute numbers but useful when comparing different setups

The rule of thumb for flywheel bhp down to ATW Bhp is to take off 28% losses thru the quattro drivetrain. To convert "At the wheels" bhp back to flywheel bhp you therefore add 42%. Check out Bushy's ATW figure of 320bhp at G-Force Rolling Road and you'll see what I mean

Does it matter that my 4th gear is different to yours? Also, are you setting off from a standstill and changing into 4th before 30? If so, what speed are you changing so the turbos have spooled up in time?

Hey mate I basically bumbled along in 4th around 25mph then floored it waiting to reach my magic 3000rpm - so the turbos weren't spooled at all really. Just trying to get a good speed range in one gear so that we can compare, without adding unknowns like launches and changing gear. Do you think this is a good range/gear to use to compare say S3/S4/RS2/RS4?
