S4 Brakes!!
S4 Brakes!!
My standard 2001 S4 brakes are crap! Have been MRC'd and would like to know if there is a route to upgrade without bigger wheels (although this will no doubt happen at some point) which works effectively. Will just brake pad/discs work? Anyone done this and found it to work.

RE: S4 Brakes!!
Do a search. I think the Porsche brakes fit under 17's. Think these are the ECS ones.
Re: RE: S4 Brakes!!
The ECS IV wouldn't fit under a lot of 18s let alone 17s. Certainly the standard Avus wheels would stand no chance.Blue_Thunder wrote:Do a search. I think the Porsche brakes fit under 17's. Think these are the ECS ones.
. S4 Nogaro Blue Avant . ECS IV . RS4 handling bits . 18" Ultraleggera . AWE Boost Gauge . MRC Custom Map . 315 BHP . 482 Nm .

That was my first impression as well when i moved from a lighter A4 1.8T with cross drilled disks. The brakes on it were good. I found the brakes on the S4 to be nowhere near as quick at slowing the car down. Recently changed the front pads to OEM and theyre marginally better than before but really need new calipers and fast road pads if you really want to slow down quickly.GDS968 wrote:My standard 2001 S4 brakes are crap! I too would like to upgrade but cant justify buying all that kit plus four new rims and tyres, sorting the suspension and getting it all re-aligned. Ive just learnt to brake a little earlier

Brakes are an important upgrade. Although I got Porsche brakes to fit under the standard 17" Avus wheels and I am happy with them, I later changed to 18" wheels and in hindsight I wish I'd done wheels and brakes at the same time and could have got a better solution. If you're not ready to upgrade wheels then I actually recommend that you live with the std brakes until you are and then go for brakes to fit 18" wheels.

Hello Dippy
Do you have any more comments etc. on the Porsche brakes. I was looking at these to retain the standard 17 inch wheels and so am keen for any feedback good or bad. What would you have gone to instead if you'd changed to 18 inch wheels.
