I;ve asked before, but couldn't find anyone who knew...

- is there an output pin on the alarm control module that gives 12v or 0v when the alarm is triggered?

I know the following (from taking things to bits!)

- The alarm controller is built into the door lock pump housing (so are the window controls by the way)
- it talks to the sounder (ie there is 12v, 0v, and a bi-directional signal wire)
- there is a spare output on pin 3 of the main multiway plug on the controller which is 12v when the indicators flash to an alarm or set or deset (not when you operate the hazards - the hazard relay is not used when the alarm sounds, actually the indicators flash quicker) - but this ouput although very convinient is an on/off tick in sympathy with the indicators, not constant 12v. It does work quite well for a second sounder, but is a little loud on setting and desetting the alarm.

- I think the next step will be to trace the PCB inside the sounder to find out where there is a point to pick up the alarm active signal. But the sounder box is sealed so it isn't easy, I have split mine open but thats as far as I've got for now.

So does anyone know where the installers pick up the signal from, or do they just install another complete alarm system - movement sensors etc?

I want to install another sounder (the stock one is pants) and a cell phone module.

Any help would be good!
Cheers

i cant remember which pin i used, its easy enough to check with a multimeter,i used a seperate 12v siren from maplins to act as the warn off from the proximity sensor, the only problem was setting it up as the s8 has double glazed glass and sensitivity was either too high or too low, shouldnt have that problem with regular windows though...

i fitted an ebay gsm alarm for a customer a few weeks back,it was about 120 quid, quite impressed with all the features too,if alarm is triggered it rings youfrom its internal sim card, has inbuilt mic so you can hear whats going on in and around the car, very handy if its parked a way off, also acts as a tracker as sim can be tracked, you can also remotely arm/disarm remote start and remote shut off from your mobile

Thanks chaps, I'll keep investigating!
The ebay GSM module is exactly what I'm looking at fitting, had a look at the features, seems a very good idea, the speaker in the car so you can call it if your car has been nicked and ask the driver to "please give it back" sounds great, - then cut the ignition by dialling #1 or fuel pump etc.

Just want a quick and easy way of picking up the alarm active condition to send to it.

IIRC the blackjack doesn't cut the fuel unless the car stops on it's own accord i.e. at a junction or at traffic lights. There are other anti-hijack systems available which will cut the fuel no matter what speed the car is moving at.

Blackjack has a slow down mechanism... prior to this the alarm blares and the brake lights and hazards flash to warn traffic behind. It then pulses the ignitiion to slow the car down and stop it. Then fully imobilised. Quite a number of the others don't kill the car till it is stopped again.
